Hi guys,

I'm confused, my bump has been quite firm for the last few days. It feels like i'm blowing my stomach out constantly! It's SO uncomfortable. Is it Braxton Hicks? I thought it maybe because i'm still working (as a teacher) and driving as normal?? ANy thoughts? Anyone experiencing the same?

My bump has been pretty firm as well the last month. For the most part it was just BH, but the past week its been changing to be more like full blown contractions. Even when they let up, I still typically stay a bit firm - its like my abdominal muscles are tensing in addition to the uterus or something. I'm still working too, so I'm sure the stress is contributing.

If you get regular tightenings of 4 an hour, I was advised to call my doctor.

mine is firm too, tends to be if I have done a lot of walking or moving about like housework/ironing etc

saying that though, sat here now its as hard as nails but I can also feel parts of baby sticking out here and there so it could be baby has moved

Mine is hard all the time now but I think it's due to the baby running out of space.

Thanks for answering me :) I'm a bit further behind some of you but at the same time i think this one is going to be a big one! Its pg number 2 and i think it's going to come earlier than 40 weeks. First came at 38 wks! The baby is moving alot and i can feel either the bum or back of the baby, but its good to know the feeling of being blown up and like i'm just about to explode, is normal!

It could be due to BH or could be because baby is lying in an awkward position. xx

Mine has been all tight and hard up front for the past week. I asked my midwife, and she said it was because baby was pushing outwards. It can get REALLY uncomfortable at times.

I definitely think the baby is in a strange position and to top it all off i've ad the worst heartburn EVER!

Mine has been getting tight and hard a lot the past few days.
My due date is today too.
Not sure though if i dont go into labour soon im going for my first sweep on thursday so..
Could be the baby getting into a good position.

Aww Good LUCK!!

I'm hoping mines not ready just yet! But can't wait to reach that due date!I think you're right the baby seems to be getting more and more into position each day!

Glad I saw this thread - not just me! Gotta love that hard wiggly bump :)

My bump just gets tight and hard and a bit uncomfortable from around 4pm onwards - guess its still bloat!!

I dont think the fact that you are still working and driving as normal would have any effect on you as you are just 31wks.

Anything you are worried about do speak to your midwife, but sounds like what you are feeling is very normal:flower:

my tummy is tight when i am sitting half propped and bh comes and goes and when i am walking the very same.

But when bubba is moving when sitting down it can go tight as well as he loves to push outwards.

Meeeeee tooooooo! Hard to believe how uncomfortable the bump has gotten lately, glad I am not the only one!

I could have written this post, sparkle! I'm so glad I'm not alone...I was seriously sitting here wondering if I was having a constant contraction....which obvs wouldn't be good. It's such a weird feeling.

Like you ellie, mine is from about 4 pm onwards, sometimes more noticiable than others.....worse if I'm out and about like I was today. And you, Sparkle and I are all right around the same gestation so there must be something to it.

I'm just really confused to know if it's BH or not? I have left my hand on my uterus for like 10 minutes while this is going on and I don't feel it tightening and loosening or anything, it's just a constant hardness/tightness.

Exactly Allie! It stays hard?! Sooo wierd! I've for a midwife appointment today I'm going to see what it means? I'll keep u guys posted :)

Definitely let us know what your midwife says! My doc said it was BHs, even when I told her it was a constant tightness and not coming and going in waves, etc.
