Hello, I'm new to this and I need some suggestions. My husband and I have been ttc for 3 years. We have a beautiful 4 year old daughter, so we aren't sure why we can't conceive again. We both have gone through many tests, and they came out fine. After the first year, I decided to change my whole lifestyle (eating, sleeping, exersize, etc...), thinking that would help. I have also been using a bt and opk's for over a year now, and still no luck. We went to a fertility doctor about 6 months ago, and she suggested getting on some kind of fertility shots, but I'm too scared to do it. I have tried every possible natural way to conceive again, and nothing has worked. My heart breaks every month to find out that we aren't pregnant. I feel like I've hit a brick walk. Should I give these "shots" a try? Or is there any other suggestions?

What shots is she wanting to give you? Are they to boost ovulation? If she can explain to you how they work and why she thinks it's the best route, then if you're comfortable with it, go ahead. I wouldn't go into it blindly though.

If you've been tracking your ovulation and have been able to confirm that, have you tested DH's swimmers?

I'm not sure what the shots are called, but yes, it's to boost ovulation. And yes, my husband has been tested also, and both of us are completely fine. The doctors can't seem to figure out why we aren't getting pregnant. It's a horrible feeling and very confusing. The reason why I'm scared to get the shots is that the chances of having multiples is much higher. I would love multiples, but my dr thinks I would have many problems because I am very petite. I feel so lost.

If you are already ovulating on your own, the shots may or may not help you, really. More eggs released means more chances of conceiving, but also, a higher risk of multiples.

Could you ask her if she'd consider doing an IUI on an unmedicated cycle? Like if you know you usually ovulate on a specific day in your cycle they could possible schedule the IUI around that? It'd be something to ask. If you're ovulating, and your DH has plenty of swimmers, it may be that the swimmers just aren't making it up there because you don't have enough fertile CM or something, and IUI could help that.

I second the IUI opinion, already posted, but would like to know why the doctor isn't starting with something lower risk, cost, and better tolerated like clomid? injectables are $$$ and insurance doesn't cover them. Clomid you can get for less than $20 at most pharmacies, some it's even on the $4 plan.
