Hi,my LO has a very sensitive tummy and get tummy ache alot of the time, also he is very windy. He is very unsettled after his feeds also,he manages to get himself off to sleep but it worries me that nearly every day he gets tummy ache.

Should also add he is on hungry baby milk atm.

I emailed cow and gate about their comfort milk and the response was this...

Our hungier baby formula can be very difficult for some young babies to digest, meaning they can become windy and unsettled.

It sounds like this might be the case with your son and chaging him to either Cow and Gate First or Comfort can help with this even though they are slightly less satisfying.

Cow &Gate First Infant Milk from Newborn, is generally the first milk to be introduced to a baby.

Cow & Gate Comfort 1 is an infant milk for unsettled, bottlefed babies. It is suitable from birth, and provides the nutrition that a baby needs in a format that is gentle on an immature digestive system. For those babies who have been unsettled on other infant milks, this milk may provide them with more comfortable digestion.

The only thing that worries me is they said it is slightly less satisfying...Connah is 7 weeks and already on 6oz every 3 hours so im worried that if i switch he will be hungry after his feeds and maybe i will have to up the amount  But its alot of formula for a baby his age!

has any1 used this milk or does any1 have any advice?

Thanks xxx

We use Cow and Gate. Haven't used comfort milk but what we did do for 2 months was give Ruby half C&G first and half C&G hungry baby milk. She was great on this. We have just moved her to all hungry milk in each bottle and no first milk and at 4 months she's fine with it.
I would try using first milk, then maybe go to half first and half hungry if that's not enough for him.

Another thought...using a too slow teat can cause windiness...which teats are you using? The problem might not be his milk at all.

Hi,
i used the c&g comfort with Lexie, i did have to change though as she needed a hungry baby milk as it wasn't satisfying enough. Asked my hv who said it was either be hungry or be sick! very helpful i know!
Luckily she did ok on sma white.
hope this helps

Was using the newborn ones up until yesterday, using the size 2 ones and hes a little better, not half as windy as he use to be x

I used the comfort one for Joel because he had colic and reflux and the comfort formula is thicker and seemed to stop his tummy hurting as much. I never noticed him needing more than he did when he was on hungry baby milk x

I use it, it def helps with the colic, it's alot thicker so I use fast flow teats with it.

i used cow and gate comfort with logan. he had bad colic and this helped him loads. he stayed on it until 6 months and then i tried him on follow on milk and he was fine. it did make his poos greener and stinkier and gave him bad smelly wind, but he was so much happier x

We've been using Cow and Gate Comfort milk for Harry, but have just switched to Aptamil Easy Digest (same thing, just tastes a little different - Cow and Gate and Aptamil are made by the same people in the same factories!). Harry was on Aptamil Hungrier Baby milk. We had to take Harry to a dietician who told me that most dieticians would like to see Hungrier Baby Milks taken off the market because they disagree with them and how they work. They work by turning into a cottage cheese-like consistency in baby's tummies making it hard for their systems to digest and often causing problems (e.g. wind/stomach cramps/vomitting cheesy sick etc).

i use c&g comfort and LO went dwn an 0z because its a thicker milk it seems to fill her more, she was really unsettled on Sma and had terrible colic which is why we changed her, it make LO's poo's a bit yellowy and a bit smelly but thats better than a baby in pain

i used cow and gate comfort with callum and it did the trick. i didnt notice him needing anymore either. x

When Victoria was little i tried her on cow n gate but it gave her a really bad upset tummy so i stuck with the milk she was ok wiv & tht was farleys milk, its the one for hungery babies & found she was always full after using tht! hope tht is helpfull for u take care.

When can you start them on hungrier baby, m using c&g newborn, and last 2 days hollie has been wanting more every 2 hours, but is she hungry or going through a growth spurt at 10 days old? xxx

We have used cow and gate comfort first milk right from Joseph being five days old, when I had to stop breast feeding.

Right away he was happier and started to feed well but at two weeks he did get colic anyway. At first they thought it was reflux but eventually by using the Dr Brown anti-colic bottles and Infacol on prescription that eased up and he's always seemed happy and satisfied on that milk.

Could you perhaps give him the comfort milk through the day and the hungrier baby milk at night? Or the other way around, hungrier baby milk in the early part of the day and the comfort milk later on at night, depending on when he seems to have the pains and wind.

Can your health visitor show you a couple of the baby massage strokes for easing wind and tummy aches? The ones I learned with Joseph did help him and they are quite simple, it's just getting the right places and pressure is important.

She could be going through a growth spurt hun,i tried connah on hungry baby milk and it made him constipated and that was when he was 2 weeks old....so i stopped and kept him on newborn milk.

Around 4/5 weeks old i changed him onto hungry baby milk, first giving him 1 bottle of hungry baby before bed but then at every feed at around 5 weeks xx

Thanks i only bought a carton to try her on, and she seemed to settle with the hungrier baby lastnight and she seemed to settle for longer, but i do think she is going through a groth spurt xxx
