sorry dont know much about this, Ava will be getting my surname but i know Becky was looking into this a while ago?? maybe she knows more..

I have done it. Purely because I was so terrorised by FOB. I just wanted to feel that we could be safe, start again afresh. PM me if you need more info

I changed my son's surname (which was my maiden name) to my married name shortly after my wedding without his dad's consent. No problems whatsoever as I wasn't married to my son's dad at the time of his birth so he has no parental rights. He also makes next to no effort to see his son so wasn't in the least bit interested anyway.

I ordered the Deed Poll document online, can't remember for how much but it wasn't much. Then updated his name with the school, passport office, doctors etc. Easy peasy.

:)

I did it too ... I went to a solicitor and they did it ... It's a little awkward when applying for passports etc.but bloody worth it .. Wont be making the same mistake twice this bub is having my name ..... X

God I am having a dilemma with this.... I want to have FOB's surname in it, yet I want him to also have my maiden name. To be honest I dont want my bub to have my married name, but for the moment it looks like it will have to be this way for a while.

you can give bubs any surname you want - you could call him 'dot dot' if you wanted! xxx

LOL!!! Well, the fob's surname is Plaza, my maiden name in Smith and actual surname now is Peters, if I put in all 3 bubs would be *whatever name I finally decide on* Plaza Smith Peters!! bit too long I think. And my hubby would go mental if I put in fob's surname but I want him to have it for some burnt reason. I havent spoken to fob since September, but I still want his surname in my bubs name I'm stupid:dohh:

I think it all depends on if the FOB has PR. I changed my eldests name when i got married ( not to her dad), i did it through solicitors. As her dad had no parental responsibilty and she had my name on her birth certificate, i had no problems changing it.x

Ill never have a different name to any child of mine! if i get married, the babys name will change too.
