I was told that many doctors won't do the HSG unless they see a medical history that would indicate a problem (PID, STD, trauma to abdomen, endometriosis, etc). Has anyone else been told this? Has anyone been put on Clomid, and told they didn't need the HSG first?

I was put on clomid for a few months before I had any other tests done. I went to an RE and did an HSG a week after I completed all my bloodwork for stds, thyroid, etc.

HSG?? I just had my bloodwork done to check for thyroid problems before I was put on clomid

Hi,
I just started seeing my RE a few months ago but he has a checklist of all things that he does and before they did the HSG, he did the SIS (Saline infusion sonogram) and saw some things that caused him to push for the HSG, but it all came back normal. So maybe they will do that one first??

Sorry, not a pro but def didnt want to read and run.

When I got off BC my periods came every other month and my doctor referred me to a FS for an HSG. There was no hesitation at all. Sure enough it found that one of my tubes was blocked. If it wasn't for the blocked tube she would have given me clomid, but she said I should stay with the FS so they could monitor me more closely. She said if she put me on clomid, it could cause an ectopic pregnancy.
