Adults do it all the time, I've even found 'groups' in yahoo that buddy together based on their county and state and they all go out together. With the way the economy is, free stuff is free stuff. If you go to you tube you can find people video taping their dumpster diving adventures, mostly women but there are men who do it too.
Places like Game Stop will toss out video games to make room for new games, JCPenny will toss things as quickly as they get them if there's a small nick in the clothes or a blemish in the paint... All bakery's around here toss their products in the middle of the night.
I found out that the reason MOST places do it, such as Wal-Mart and K-Mart actually is due to their insurance with the products. If they toss things at the end of the night, they mark it down and send it to their insurance company and then the insurance company will PAY THEM for it... If they give it away, they lose out.
It's awful that companies like this are actually getting paid to waste such great stuff that other people could really use.
