Hi, I have a 3 cm fibroid, and they haven't been able to determine if it's encroaching on the uterine cavity by ultrasound, so I've been referred to get a pelvic MRI.

Have any of you had to do this? What should I expect? I've never had an MRI. Is it as simple as laying there while they take the pictures, or do they have to put some sort of contrast dye or saline in, like the HSG or SHG?

I've had a CT scan and pelvic MRI for both they did a couple films without contrast dye and then took a couple with. The contrast dye was injected via IV, much much easier then the HSG

I had pelvic MRI last year with contrast dye (it goes into your blood through your vein so not like HSG). Nothing to worry about but it may take 30-40 min and I started feeling claustrophobic in this tube but they gave me some music to listen to and it helped. also try and schedule it before ovulation so you know you are not pregnant otherwise they wont do it.

I had a pelvic MRI in December, both with and without the contrast dye.

I actually thought the experience was super neat! You can feel the vibrations through your body. I didn't find myself claustrophobic or bored. I thought it was overall an interesting experience.

I was having a uterine abnormality diagnosed, but the MRI also showed a fibroid. My doctor didn't seem concerned about it's location, but I"ve been struggling with infertility for 2 years, so it obviously concerns me.
