Hope you don't mind me popping in from first tri.
I'm going through a really crappy time right now.
5 days ago I had a massive bleed and got diagnosed with sch-a pocket of blood known as a hematoma by my placenta. It was small.

The bleeding stopped after 2 days, then yesterday I has an even bigger red bleed with cramps this time. I've now got another new bigger sch :-( 5cm x2cm) the doc who scanned me told me I could lose the baby and didn't give me much hope...had to even ask if baby was alive when she scanned as she didn't bother telling me.
I really just want to hear if anyone else has been through this. I read it tends to go in the lucky ones by 20 weeks-so have any of you been through this? When did it resolve?

Oh what a nightmare. I have nothing to offer, but didn't want to read and run. I will keep everything crossed for you. Xx

Sorry to hear you are going through this :hugs: Some medical professionals are so rude.

No experience, but I remember reading about ladies having hematoma when I was in first tri, so hopefully there will be lots of advice and reassurance coming your way x

I had this around 13 weeks on , heavy bleeding with clots once ,then light bleeding for weeks , I never had cramps though.

My hematoma lasted months , I followed my OB advise and went on pelvic rest and it resolved itself around the 20th week ,it was scary but I am now almost 35 weeks and getting ready for my sons arrival.

I was advised not to exercise , no carrying and absolutely no sex or orgasm. It wasnt easy but totally worth.

On the other hand some doctors consider it very normal but size and location are key, my doc was very strict about me being on pelvic rest as my clot was right near the placenta.

did they advise you on it?

I've been told to rest. I am on bed rest now as normal resting on sofa hasnt helped. Just hope it helps.

Thanks. :flower:

So sorry to hear you're going through this :(

I lost our baby in July '13 and had a D&C 24th July. We decided not try for another baby until I had a period but twice we we're careless and got caught which of course we were over the moon about but a tad scared as my body hadn't had a period since the miscarriage. 13th sept we found out we we're pregnant.
At about 6 weeks I was doing my floors and had cramping but carried on, when I went to the toilet I had bleeding. I was beside myself and kept repeating I can't go through this again. Hubby came home and my doctor told me to stay home and rest but I couldn't I needed a scan to know what was going on. I got diagnosed with SCH , I was put on rest til 13 weeks. I was lucky, I only had two small bleeds and by 9/10 weeks it had resolved itself. But I was sure it was just my luck to have another miscarriage. But she's still with us at 31+5 :)

I hope you're SCH resolves itself Hun, I know how hard it is to stay positive but please try. Sending you big hugs xxx

I suffered this for the first 14/15 weeks of my pregnancy. (I did have it in a previous pregnancy also that I went on to miscarry). I now have a gorgeous 3 week old little girl :happydance:

Big hugs and good luck. :hugs:

I had a massive SCH at 11 weeks. My perinatologist found it and said it was one of the largest he'd ever seen. I didn't get exact measurements. I bled heavily and I mean heavily with clots for about a week. The dr said when it stopped I could go off pelvic rest. Every time I DTD I would bleed for another week. After a few times I finally stopped DTD and didn't have anymore bleeding after the 16th week or so.

I'm now 29 weeks and the SCH has seemed to resolve itself. I do have more scans to check growth (I'm not complaining) and they said there's a "chance" of preterm labor.

I'm sorry they told you that you would lose the baby. :( Actually it's a 1% chance that you will after hearing the heartbeat. So keep resting, drink plenty of water and try not to stress..

I dd not have hem but I did have bleeding and bed rest around 12-14 weeks due to tear in placenta. Went on to have normal, healthy pregnancy and daughter is now eight:) hugs

Keep positive Hun, since I got through the rough "early" days of almost constantly bleeding (until 18 weeks) I've been told by lots of people that the doctors tend to be over cautious when discussing issues like SCH and abruptions - although they can be very serious, my understanding is that the risk of the worst case happening is a lot lower than they would lead you to believe at appointments.

:hugs: xxx

I had one at 8 weeks with my previous pregnancy. I was putting away dishes and felt a gush, and was bleeding heavily and passed a huge blood clot. I thought I lost the baby, but I went to the hospital, and found out baby was okay. The dr. gave me a 50/50 chance of miscarrying, but I carried the pregnancy to 41 weeks and have birth to a healthy baby boy. My placenta wouldn't detach from the uterine wall after delivery, however. I'm not sure if that is correlated with the SCH or not.

Just keep the faith! Hugs!

I had a small SCH diagnosed at 8w4days and was put on rest. I went back 2 weeks later and was told to keep resting, by 20 weeks it had corrected itself. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts for you :)

I had x3 huge bright red bleeds between 11 & 14 weeks and was diagnosed with 2 SCH's, both approx. 3.5 x 2 cms. I was put on bed rest after my 2nd bleed for 3 weeks, and prescribed progesterone injections (every other day into the top of my butt - AGONY after a few weeks but worth it!).

All very scary but at 20 weeks they had resolved themselves and I'm now very close to 30 weeks and have a little man practicing his daily aerobics inside me!!

There's a thread dedicated to SCH which I found a huge support when I was going through that terrifying time.

Good luck, stay positive and stay rested!! There are far more positive outcomes than horror stories out there when it comes to SCH's.

I had a small hematoma that amounted to two days of bleeding at about 7 or 8 weeks. My OB explained that it is common and likely just a result of the placenta attaching to the uterine wall, no big deal. I wasn't put on any sort of rest, pelvic or otherwise, although I did take it a little easy for a few weeks anyways.

I am now 37 weeks and doing great. I have had no other problems after that, but it definitely scared the snot out of me! I'm sure all is well with you! Good luck!

Yes I had a SCH in my first pregnancy and bled from early on into the 2nd tri, I can't quite remember when it stopped, definitely before 20 weeks. I had a couple of very big bleeds with clots, it was a very worrying time I really feel for you. I hope it clears up for you soon :flower:

Hope all gets better for you! Definitely just rest and let things take care of itself.

I had a bleed at 9 weeks, and as everyone else posted I thought I had miscarried. Got an ultrasound and the SCH was found. I wasn't too familiar with them so I never thought to ask what size it was, but at my ultrasounds later on it was barely noticeable...so it hasn't completely resolved itself, but got better.

Good luck!!
