before i was even pregnant i was telling a girl i know the name id call my baby girl when i got pregnant and low and behold she got preg with a baby girl and took my name, so i then got pregnant with a girl and called her somthing different then i had my 2nd child also a girl and called her the name that she stole of me lol...

im pregnant now with my 3rd and had another name in mind, and i was out with a pregnant mate and she said asked me what i thought about the same name i had in mind but i never told her so i guess great minds think alke so now i cant really use it cause she will b thining o stole it off her damm!! but i suppose this is only relevant if i have a 3rd baby girl

I was going through names with a friend and she flipped out when I mentioned one that was apparently at the top of her list. It was only in the middle of my list so I just took it off. I would definitely be pissed if I shared my top names with someone and then they took them though!

My sister in law took our first pick (which we had talked about for years), but she didn't know we had chosen that name. What's worse is that our second favorite name was also taken by her - only for a different purpose. She uses it as her stage name for modeling & TV. We had to start over with the name game.

Im not sharing my names!! to be honest I don't think anyone would choose the ones we like but when I have my heart set on a name I'd be gutted if someone pinched it x

We've decided to keep our names a surprise until baby is born. That way we get to keep a little something to ourselves, nobody will steal the name, and I don't get any negative feedback and get my feelings hurt.

No one has ever stolen my names, but I think we are going to keep ours a secret, as I have decided to change my mind about my girl name (Cora Mae) - I'm not really worried about anyone stealing my boy name, because it's VERY different (The lead singers last name of our favorite band). I'm starting to think keeping them a secret are a good thing because there is so many rude people out there that you think are your friend and then they end up stealing your names!! What a bunch of bitches =[

even if somebody stole my name.. he or she will stil have that name...lol my two best mates had a bit of a to do over a name ,, ones sons was already called isaac and hes 7 and my other friend had a baby boy and wanted to call him isaac too.. it caused a bit of a argument .. anyhow in the end new baby ended up as zac..lol but other friend did back down and said actually i find it a honour you wanted same name but by then other friend had heart set on zac....lol x

I am keeping our name a surprise until the baby is born. I have 2 cousins who wives both liked a certain name. One of the wives said the name years before she was pregnant, the whole family knew she liked it. The my other cousin wife was pregnant 1st, named their baby that name. Of coarse, the other wife got pregnant too and still kept that name as well. The these 2 first cousins have the exact same 1st and last name!!! lol

We kept ours a secret and when his step mom lost a baby, she named the baby the exact name, first and middle what we had chosen. I was totally lost. We had the same name for almost a year and then bam, taken. We have since they shared the new names, but no one going to take them from us. We love the names so much, I dont care who names there baby what. :) lol

My ex stole my fav girl's name... Either he named his baby to always remember me (which is sad and weird) or he forgot and it is a coincidence. What are the chances?

Not sure if I want it now.. Hubby says we should anyway. Not sure.

Posh spice stole my girls name. So we have had to come up with another one. :):) x

This is a difficult situation, because if you decided to still use the name Harper, everyone would presume you'd pinched the name off ner and not the other way! :flower:

lol thanks girls im njoying readin these posts, i guess i will learn to keep my mouth closed and say nothing i really cany hold my water lol! sure id most people told i was pregnant at 7 weeks regret it now

We have a name planned for a boy, but when we told my husband's sister, she said that's what SHE wants to name a boy, and accused us of stealing it. However, she's not pregnant and not trying yet, and the family has decided its first come first served. So if we have a boy we'll have first dibs on the name. If its a girl, well, then my sister-in-law will have her chance to use it before us!

Flower fairy- exactly and as its her everyone knows the babys name, i only told my god sons mum that i liked that name and as soon as she announced it she was on the phone to me saying "she stole your name" lol.
Even worse is that we grew up in the same town and my best friend went to school with her. Lol.
X

my SIL and BIL stole our name for a boy. Then they named the kid our oldest first name too! SO NOW there are 3 Williams in the family! My husband, my son and my nephew! UGH!

I personally don't think that a name is ever anybodies to be "stolen" and its stupid to feel that way. But that's just my opinion. If my baby had been a boy he would have been called Aristotelis and my OH's brother already has a son with that name. It is their fathers name and my OH always wanted to use it but his brother got there first but we don't feel he stole it as we don't own it, there would have just had to have been 3 in the family.

AND if we conceive a boy in the future we WILL be calling him that regardless of it being used already by 2 family members are certainly not stealing anything! And my OH's brother sees it the same way too.

Now if someone uses it purposely because they KNOW you want to use it then that is different and it is VERY pathetic of them. Then its kind of dishonest like stealing.

I announced haiden's name, didnt want the chance of the other 5 friends having baby boys say I stole it! lol I can just say look back on facebook, and see who said it first.
Plus if someone else was to take my name, I know in my mind that I had it first, and I would NOT change a name I loved because of them.
