I've found fat better in my experience, it seems to get things smoother and moving out easily. A spoonful of coconut oil in the morning and I go within 40 minutes.
I have tried colace and it works, but not in a "oh-my-god-i-need-the-bathroom-right-now" kind of way, so that's good! Dried prunes just create trapped gas at the top of my stomach and it's soooooo uncomfortable (for me). I have done low and no-carb diets and that's when things moved along best for me (but they are not safe during pregnancy )...fiber-ific foods just don't make me go like they should. Pregnancy is sooooooo glamorous! Gassy, constipated, nauseated, etc.
I have not tried this metamucil for constipation. What I have tried was this Digestic from Mimonis that is very good for constipation. We won't worry for the side effects as it is purely organic and supports colon health.
I haven't had that issue so far but I think it might be because I drink V8 pretty regularly. I'm having a veggie aversion so I figured that way I'll get some good nutrition.
I think it has the same active ingredient as fybogel which is what I use, I find it really helps, I use it when I'm not pregnant too because it doesn't cause stomach upset. Ideally you shouldn't use any aid too frequently, try getting lots of fiber through diet if you can.
I put some physillium husks in my porridge in the morning. Metamucil has physillium husks in it but by just using the husks themselves you get the same affect but without those added ingredients. You dont need much. My hand slipped once and .........tmi.
My doctor recommend it for me. I've been taking a spoonful every night still not going a lot but I can count on a morning bathroom break. My husband got it for me and it's a big tub of Orange flavored chalky powdery stuff. I'm not sure if there are pills but I really wish I could just take it with the rest of my vitamins. But it is helping. And I was really constipated. Like six days and nothing constipated.
