hey ladies :hi:

just wanted to pick the brains of those who have had this op.

what was your recovery time after the op? trying to work out how long i may be looking at for after the op.

many thanks :hugs:

my recovery took about a week. the surgery is super easy and had almost no pain afterwards..it's just that the muscles are quite sore, you know those muscles you never know were there until something happen! i had to have my husband help me to sit and stand for the first couple days.

It depends on what they do when they get in there. Mine wasn't bad at all. I actually went to work after two days, but very calmly and cautiously. I would say a week to be safe.

My recovery was on the longer end of the scale - about three weeks. I developed an infection, though, which set me back quite badly.

My lap was for a suspected ectopic pregnancy, though, so it was quite involved with lots of "rooting around", so if it's purely diagnostic it'll probably heal much quicker.

Thanks ladies, my doc has said he will look at removing any endo he sees and is also planning to drill my ovaries. will plan for at least one week off work then.

I had a lap in November to remove Endo, I felt fine the next day. I tried to take it easy for maybe two days, and was back to work and life full swing.

I took two weeks off, although I probably needed around a week- I had a lap for- lap and dye and unblockage of a tube, ovarian drilling and hysteroscopy on the 3rd of jan, I agree you will be sore in places you have never felt before lol! Good luck with your op xx

I had a lap last year to remove two dermoid cysts and my recovery was quite slow but I am having another one on 13th Feb to look for scar tissue and I'm just blocking out a week

i went in for a laparoscopy and came away with a laparotomy so ended up taking two months off work ! i felt absolutely awful, however i have since had a caesarian which is similar to a laparotomy and i was up and about the following day and would have been fine to go to work after a week (if i hadn't have had a baby to look after !), so i think every surgery is different

i had a lap done in november to unblock one tube (left) and remove scar tissue and then straighten out the other (right) - both successful! it took me two days to go back to work but 5 days to get that horrible muscle cramping away from my shoulders. turns out the gas they use during the procedure stays in longer (goes to your muscles) if you don't walk it off. i ended up laying around for two days that's why it took so long. :winkwink:
what are you going in for?

thanks GG. I am going in to be investigated for endometriosis and also to have ovarian drilling done.
I am hoping they find something and that I finally get some answers to not getting preggers for nearly 6 years!

well good luck to you! :hugs: :winkwink:
when are you going in for the "investigation" and the drill?

ps- the doc will tell you what to do what not to do before and after. so don't worry. also after my lap i was so loopy from the anasthesia and the pain meds i sorta floated all the way home. that includes taxi ride to the port and ferry boat ride. (i live on an island) same day surgery for me. if they find endometriosis you might have to spend the night.

I have my pre op on the 2nd march, hoping i will get my op date letter through in the next few days.
eeek to the floating home, i am hoping my hubby or brother will do taxi duties for me. i wouldnt mind a night in hospital if i feel poop after, make sure i am recovered before heading home.
how long have you been ttc?

well technically only ttc for 3 months since the laparoscopy cleared everything being that my left tube was blocked for years (i found out 7 months into the marriage) and the right tube was semi blocked and twisted...
the doc said to not count the two years of trying since the odds were in the near impossible zone but i can't help but count those two years regardless, you know?
he says that it's as if we hadn't tried at all. who says we'll get pregnant now?

oh and my husband was with me while i "floated" home. i don't think i would of left the hospital if i were alone. plus i had paid for the night i just chose to leave. stupid, huh? anyway..

everything crossed for you hun, so anytime in the next 9 months you should be preggers, very exciting!

nah its the sort of thing you dont know how you will be till it happens, you probably thought you were better off at home. you probably were! xx

thanks. we have our fingers tightly crossed for this month being that we recently found out that KY jelly actually kills the sperm regardless of what it says on the label. :grr: sometimes i wanna smack my doctor for being ill informed. plus pre seed and conceive plus are not sold in Greece so if we don't get a BFP this month (chances slim) i will be ordering one of the two.
so you've been trying for 6 years huh?
i hope the lap resolves any and all fertility issues for you. i admire your strength. it's a long journey... :flower:

I only had surgery to investigate but it was a lot better than I expected, a little nausea straight afterwards and I could get about un-aided the day of the surgery (although I did over do it a little bit) I had it just before Christmas but would say I could have worked after three days. Everyone's different though so make sure you have a week off and an extra with no major commitments just in case.

Good luck!

Gg my friend swears by preseed, hopefully you won't be needing it though hun. any symptoms this cycle?
Its been a long rocky old journey, but hopefully we might now get somewhere! X

morning hun. :) question: what were you told to do in the meantime (till the op)? and what IS a pre op? just a check up? hopefully you take this time to relax. i know when i had mine done it was the only month i can remember where i was completely babymaking stress free. so nice!

Evening Gg :hi:
how you doing hun?
They have told us to continue trying until the month of the op. a pre op is a check up to confirm you are fit for the op.
do you have a journal where i can follow you? Xx
