I had a gastric bypass in January and fell pregnant rather quickly afterwards. It's true what they say, your fertility does get a boost. The baby wasn't planned....not for right now anyway but we are happy regardless.

So for six months, I've lost weight....63lbs so far and now my belly has popped a bit and I am starting to show, I am struggling to get my head round the fact that it's not because I'm getting fat, it's because there is a baby in there and is obviously getting bigger.

I have just been so used to my body going in the downwards direction and watching myself shrink that now watching myself get bigger again is a bit of an adjustment mentally and I'm just having a bit of bother in my head about it. I hope it doesn't last too long.

I have my 6 month post op appointment with my surgeon today so I'm hoping that by telling him how I feel, he'll understand and be able to reassure me a little that this is normal.

Ugh! Brains! They're annoying sometimes lol

Well done on it weight loss hun I'm sure he will reassure you. Your doing a great job . I'm sure u will soon be loving having a bump x

Hey there, i can't possibly compare to your journey (congratulations!), but can empathize. I was/am still overweight at 19 weeks. I lost about 10lbs at the start just by eating healthier (baby was the push to drop booze, soda, and fast food)....but the past few weeks I've definitely gotten a LOT bigger and gained back about 2lbs. With my start weight (5'6" 200lbs) my doctor had lectured me quite a bit to be diligent about habits/not gain too much weight, and it's been hard not to beat myself up over it. I've just focused on eating if I'm hungry and eating healthy things....It's just now that baby's getting bigger I'm hungrier more often! Your doc should reassure you, but it's part of the process, my opinion would be to focus on everyone being healthy and letting the number be what it will for a few weeks here

I know the stress your feeling about getting bigger. I lost 40 kgs after first baby and fell pregnant right as i reached my goal weight. Immedietly started gaining :( my situations different but i want you to know your not alone! So many women try hard to lose weight, letting that go during pregnancy has been the hardest thing for me

Thank you ladies!

It wasn't a stressful experience seeing the surgeon and he sad to not focus on losing weight so much but to make sure I'm getting enough nutrition for myself and the baby.

It's just odd to shrink and grow at the same time lol but as long as my little boy comes out healthy, even if I do gain, I don't care. I'll be able to focus on losing the weight when he is here :)
