I bought six tommee tippee bottles and have had to replace all the teats with mid flow ones from boots because the teats were getting blocked and i would be sat for an hour not realising but Jude wasn't getting any, or he'd get an oz and then it'd block up. I thought replacing the teats would solve the issue but i'm STILL having the same problems. I have to constantly check its coming out and my bed is FULL of milk stains from where i've had to shake the bottle a million times to make it come out. Its taking forever to feed him because of this and i'm just wondering if anyone has had the same issue or knows whats going wrong?! x

The teats have a vent in them - make sure that is pointing upwards - you might already know this but stupid me didnt til Anna was about 6 wks!!

Before I start a feed I tip the bottle up to make sure there is a little drip coming - then bottle is fine. If theres no drip it is blocked and I unscrew the lid/teat and screw back on and that solves the problem everytime!!

When Anna is having her bottle I take the bottle out after about 5 mins just to make sure she is getting something and then check there is a drip like I said above before giving her more.

This works for me - hope it helps!:flower:

If the vent on the teat gets stuck it forms a vacuum which also stops anything coming out. Each time you get a new teat, and then every now and then when washing, gently squeeze the vent open. This means air can go in, which is necessary for milk to come out!

I had a problem like that with my son but I was using playtex nurser nipples and it was when I used the powdered stuff, not the concentrate liquid :) It was a pain in the rear end!!

i've started having this problem with tt teats; do all bottles do this or is it just tt? it seems that when the vent gets milk on it it clamps shut and only unscrewing the lid and squeezing the vent open releases it - not very hygenic.

i had this problem aswell, what milk are you on?
i use aptamil comfort and because its a thicker milk, like cow and gate comfort and SMA staydown, the teats are too small to let the milk through easily, so i switched to TT vari flow teats, and have never had a problem, these teats are from 0+ months and the harder your baby sucks the more will out, which is good as it will go in at the right speed for him to swallow. hope this helps :) x

I second what's been said about Comfort Milk. My LO was on the TT stage 2 teats from very early on, but when we tried comfort milk, we had to use stage 3 teats, or the holes got totally clogged. My LO hated variflow, but I know they have worked well for others :)

My breastpump is TT and so the bottle on the end of it is. I tried using it with Robyn and she hated it so now I just use Avent. I have no advice, I dont know whats up with TT bottles either! x

We also had the same with tt teats changed from slow flow when Mckenzie was 2weeks old then to med flow then to varie flow and all didn't work cos lo was on Nutriprem (which is really thick) now using NUK medium size 1 teats so so so much better but have now brought stage 2 (6months plus) teats cos he is sucking on them so they are collapsing!

I too stocked up on TT bottles before lo arrived...but have had to change and replace all the bottles. I have no idea if he wasn't feeding properly because they were getting clogged or not...Hubby and I would struggle for him for 2 hours to drink a couple of ounces. We were re-admitted into hospital once his weight still kept going backwards. We have since changed to bottles (to Dr Brown) where he went from taking 2hrs to drink .... to 8 mins!!!!!!!!
