HCG drop - what to expect next?!?

Hi,
My HCG was 771 last Monday at 20dpo, but at 27dpo had dropped to 337. By telephone, my doctor said the pregnancy is not viable and that my period will just start back up at some point over the next few weeks. But I'm confused because I feel like they should be checking that my levels are decreasing to zero, checking the location of the pregnancy, or something. My doctor is acting like it was never a real pregnancy, but I would be six weeks tomorrow or possibly 6+1 or 2. I have had no bleeding so far, but a few crampy pains (but they kind of feel like when I was in early pregnancy with my other children). I just feel like I don't know what is going on. I suppose I'll start bleeding soon, but if I don't, should I be calling my Dr again?

I think you need to see a new doctor or push your doctor to see you. You were definitely pregnant, and it's not going to just be like you get your period back. I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks, but everything had basically stopped growing around 6 weeks. It definitely wasn't like a period at all, it was more clots and finally the sac. After it was all over, my doctor did an ultrasound to make sure that everything had indeed come out. Sometimes after a natural miscarriage not everything will come out and you'd need a d&c. Please make sure they scan you after the miscarriage.
