Hello everyone.
Thanks for reading this - I wonder of anyone can help?
I have been to the fs today and finally proved to him that I am having real problems conceiving. It is my belief that I have luteal phase defect (my luteal phase is usually 6 days). OPKs and my body signals suggest that I regularly ovulate very late in a 26-28 day cycle.
It was day 18 of my cyce today. The fs did an ultrasound and my lining was good and my follicle developed. The fs said that the fact that my cycle was likely to be 26-28 days and I had not ovulated at day 18 probably meant that I was not going to ovulate (even though 2 previous ultrasounds and 4 previous prog tests taken later on in previous cycles suggested I am ovulating). I am really not sure that I agree with him on what he said today. Given that he previously said I would be fine and that many doctors have previously said not to worry without even investigating I am sticking to my guns for now!
The fs gave me a hcg trigger shot to trigger ovualtion (which I think would have probably happened on its own eventually!!). Does anybody know if this will have the added benefit of helping my corpus luteum to work better and extend my luteal phase? I have read that hcg might help to extend the luteal phase but I can't find any really good quality info on line. I really hope that it does have this effect as it would make me feel a lot more positive about trying this month.
I would really love to hear from any of you who are having similar problems. I have been continually fobbed off and told that I am worrying about nothing by doctors until today - it has been soooooo distressing!! It's lucky that I am so headstrong and haven't given in otherwise this could have carried on for ages. Why is it that some doctors makeme feel like a little girl even though I am 36 years of age! Sorry if this sounds stroppy - it is just so frustrating when you feel like people don't take on board your concerns.
Would love to hear from any of you out there xxxxx
