and its really, really starting to scare me.

Seth is really active, he's forever climbing, running around everywhere, he cant sit still, literally it's like he has ants in his pants!! He has had SO many accidents and we've been into hospital a few times with bumps and he has a full A4 sheet filled in with accidents at nursery.

I kind of thought as he got older he would realise what was safe and what wasnt but he just doesn't seem to.

His favourite thing at the minute is standing at the top of the stairs and jumping off the top one. Fortunately we have a gate up there and one of us always walks in front of him down the stairs and one of us manages to catch him, matts ok but when I do it sends me off balance and I have to grab something. We've tried telling off & putting on the naughty chair but nothing seems to work.

He also likes walking on the garden wall (about 3ft) and jumping off it onto concrete, once again we've always caught him but its the fact that he's actually doing it, hes not scared that he's going to fall and hit his head.

Oh and another thing, he just throws himself round. Everyday he's crying because he's bumped his head on something.

He is just completely hyperactive, I dont know what to do with him!! Im so worried all the time, I dont want to leave him even for a second because I can see it only being a matter of time before he hurts himself badly.

My dad tells me this is normal for boys of his age, but Im not so sure, is anyone elses 2 year old like this?

Caitlyn's exactly the same... No fear at all... I'm pretty alright with it though seeing as she has fallen on concrete and fallen down the stairs loads of times and not even come out with a bruise. They more they can explore the more confident they become. I would never let her do anything dangerous, or that I saw as potential for causing serious harm but bumps, scratches and bruises are nothing at their age! x

She soon learnt that jumping from the table to the sofa was alright but if she did it the other way it would hurt ;)

 bless her

Problem we have with renting and part furnished, is that we dont have everything set out in the way we would want it. E.g. he has a sofa bed in his bedroom that he can climb on onto the windowsil, and he enjoys climbing on it and jumping off the windowsil onto his trampoline. Its possible, but if he lost his footing he'd have a nasty accident. And also, I dont really like him standing on the windowsills :dohh: But with that, because its in his bedroom, I cant have a shower when Matts not there, or go to the loo or anything, and we have to listen for the baby monitor in the evening and through the night to make sure he hasn't got up (he's still not sleeping through) and got onto the windowsill. But there isnt a lot we can do because theres nowhere else for the sofa to go & we need it for when my family visit!! What do you do!! lol

Just feel like a nervous wreck atm, Matts not always around, I work full time, try and get housework and college stuff done but I can't leave his side for more than 30 seconds because I just dont know what he would do if I wasnt there.

x

Caitlyn has these storage things from Ikea that are kind of like steps and she climbs up and jumps onto her playpen tent thing  I still let her go in there while I'm in the bath. But she can answer the question what are you doing and are you alright now so I'm pretty easy going, before that I'd have her in the bathroom with me and she'll just stand on her step and play in the sink with some toys? x

am glad im not the only one

iv had to put sam to bed he was jumping off the sofa backwards well he fell head 1st onto the floor :dohh: but it didnt stop him :dohh:

also he jumps downstairs like you we stand in front of him but one day i'll loose my balance and end up at the bottom :dohh:

kids really do like to see what they can do with out getting hurt sam hasnt got any draws in his room as he was always jumping off them onto the bed :growlmad:

Im just so scared he's going to get badly hurt :(

Kye is exactly the same he fears nothing, he jumps off everything, throws him self around, constantly falling over, he runs doesn't walk.

The other day we was in a beer garden and he was standing on a bench rest and I was infront of him talking to my partner and kye was grabbing my shirt and shouting at me to pick him up, by the time I turned round to see what was the matter with him he had lunged in to me and fell straight on to the floor.. bless him

He has had black eyes, bumps, bruises 9 out of ten time he does not even batter a eye lid, no reaction, no tears.

He climbed over the stair gate the other day ad fell down 20 steps??? Do u think he learnt? NO was straight back up the top trying to get back down.

He climbs on to the radiators and hangs, can get on to my big bed. He is just crazy.

It's not just a boy thing, either: Rowan is only 17 months and hasn't been walking that long, but there is nothing she won't try to climb on, and then perform gymnastics once there. Yesterday she asked to be lifted on to one of the dining room chairs, and sat there quietly with her treasure box until my back was turned, whereupon she stood up on the chair seat and held on to the back, then tried to descend by herself. Of course, the chair tipped, she fell on the floor and the chair landed on top of her: WAAAAH for about twenty seconds, then she cheered up and toddled off to find some more mischief to get into.
