Hi Ladies,

Since last week I have had a pretty constant headache on one side of my head (the right side). It sometimes gets worse and moves to the front, and it is particularly painful when I bend over.

Just thought I would ask as I don't normally suffer from headaches at all unless dehydrated, and water doesn't seem to be helping at all.

Should I call my surgery to get checked out?

Thanks!

I had this exact same thing not that long ago and found out my blood pressure was slightly high so it could be that.

I had them really bad with my daughter. Had them from a few days before i found out i was pregnant at 4wks & all the way thru.
I found taking paracetamol regualry helped. Also drinking plenty of water, the headache rub that you put on your forehead & sometimes sitting in the dark!

If you notice a increase in your headaches then i would ring your MW to see if she wants to check you over.

They can be quite common in the second trimester. I ended with pre eclmapsia in the end & was told to ring the hospital if i ever got a really bad headache with disturbed vision.

Hope this helps & your feeling better soon.

Hi hun, I'm finding I get headaches mostly when I'm tired. Unfortunately I'm having problems sleeping thanks to hip pain, but if you can ever avoid being tired or grab an extra nap here and there then maybe that will help you. I think you should be fine though, as long as your vision isn't affected and you're not feeling nauseous with it x

Thanks everyone - its a relief to hear that others have had a similar experience.

I will keep drinking lots of water, and I think tiredness is an issue as I have been really restless at night. I normally sleep on my front and find myself tossing and turning through the night.

mich - I might get my BP checked in case it is that - the bending over thing made me think that might be affecting me.

Stacey - thanks for the information - I will definitely call my GP if they get any worse.

Sorry about your hip pain firegal - hope it gets better. Have you tried a maternity pillow - they are supposed to help you get more comfortable when pregnant - I was thinking of getting one soon. The real frustration is that this is the time when we should be making the most of a full nights sleep!

Thanks hun. I haven't tried one yet but am thinking of either that or a memory foam mattress topper. I know what you mean - I want my sleep while I can still get it!! :)

I'd mention it next time you see your midwife or doctor, just in case. It might be worth checking your posture and how you're lying at night. I was suffering horrible three day migraines and bad headaches and I eventually figured out the cause - I was sitting hunched forward at my laptop and using too many pillows at night. It made my neck tense, which caused the headache. Hope you get it sorted!

Hi, I have been having bad headaches for the last few weeks as well, which also seem to get worse when bending over, I assumed it was hormones. They usually last around 2 days :-( and I think I will mention it to my MW for advice.

TJ - I am going to try and call my MW today so I will let you know what she says. Hope you feel better soon!
