I was looking into getting some cereals for Sophie without any added sugar, salt etc!

I came across ones in Boots which looked ideal but they said 18 months plus...? Am I missing something? I thought any food was ok and then maybe I thought it was because babies wouldn't be able to pick it up but surely at a year they would be able to do that?

Sophie can pick up small things like raisins now so can't see her struggling with these but I'm just worried I'm missing something about them that would make them unsuitable!

Here they are https://m.boots.com/mt/www.boots.co...anic-Multigrain-Hoops-Breakfast-160g_1400897/

Also if anyone has any alternative cereals besides weetabix that aren't full of sugar and salt I'd like to hear any suggestions? :D

It could be because they are hoops and could be a choking hazard (thats the only thing I can think of). BUt a good soak in milk would sort that out.

Our cupboard has never had sweetened cereals in it, so we have shredded wheat (bitesize), Weetabix and Oatabix, porrige oats and ready break.

Thanks I never thought about a choking hazard! Think I'll just go for them! :D Thanks for your suggestions too. I'm a sucker for sugary cereals like coco pops so finding it hard :haha:

I got Imogen some mini shredded wheats :) not sure she's actually eating them (she's trying them right now) but they seemed good. I had awful trouble.finding something that isn't "choco" "frosted" or "honey"!

Thanks we went for mini shredded wheats as well :D I was getting them muddled with shreddies and thinking they were quite salty and sugary but then I realised in Tesco that they are totally different things :haha:

I know what you mean it seems like they are all choco/frosted/honey! and even the ones that are supposedly good for you are full of stuff!

You can also get ceral like sugar puffs but plain.can't remember what they r called tho.

Morrison's do them, puffed wheat.

Cherrio's are sugar coated (higher sugar content than some "bad" cereals) Tesco 's own version are lower in sugar so a better option.

Porridge is a huge hit in our house, always has been. You can mix it up by adding honey, fruit, ect.

Thank you.

We have porridge a lot but I like to try and mix it up a little :D

Ocado have loads of completely unsweetened versions of traditionally sugary cereals, for an adult they work out pricey as you get only a few adult sized bowls out of the box, however for a baby you'd get loads of servings from them and would probably work out cheaper than specialist baby or toddler cereals xx

Thank you but ocado don't deliver to my postcode.
