Hi all,
I had my first scan this morning and they measured me at 5w5d. We saw gestational sac, yolk sac, baby and a heartbeat! heart rate was at 103bpm, and the ultrasound tech said she thought this was a bit slow and i may need to come back for another scan shortly.
Did anyone else have a heartbeat at around 5w5d? What was the heart rate? I can only find conflicting information on google and can't get in to see my doctor until the end of next week so i am stressing out :(

I don't mean to be rude about ultrasound techs, but I've had bad experiences with them telling me things that the doc later refutes. The baby's heartbeat is ALWAYS slow to start (so I'm told by my great obstetrician) and speedens up quickly thereafter.

Seeing a heartbeat at just 5w5d is great- congrats ❤️

It was very unlikely you'd even get a heartbeat before 6w so that is fantastic. Its likely just started beating. Any early (or later) scan I've had they have never measured the heart rate, just checked there is one.

Its easy to say but don't worry all sounds great

I agree - it is slow because the heart just started beating.

We were scanned due to bleeding when I was exactly 6 weeks pregnant and the heart rate was around 100; our daughter is now 2 1/2. Her heart rate was much faster at the second scan (and every scan thereafter).

I had an ultra sound last Saturday at exactly 7 weeks and all we could see was the flicker of the heart beating...they didn't even bother measuring it..and it was the doctor not a tech. I wouldn't be worried yet hun.

In my current pregnancy at 5w6d (exactly, according to my dates and every ultrasound) the tech saw nothing but an empty sac. No yolk, no fetal pole, and certainly no heartbeat. At 5w5d you all were incredibly lucky to see a heartbeat at all. As a previous poster mentioned, the heart must have *just* started beating. In the very beginning it will start off slightly lower before picking up the pace to the higher rates we expect to see in early pregnancy. Honestly, your tech sounds like they may not know what they're talking about. Please try not to worry. :hugs:

I agree at 5+4
All we saw was a empty sac :)
That's a lovely heart rate
