I don't know if it's the same in the US & other places but I live in the UK and I had my dating scan yesterday and they didn't do the heartrate and stuff? They saw the heart beating but it wasn't heard or anything. Will the midwife do that at my next appointment or what? I would like to hear it and know how many BPM it is :(

Yeah thats 'normal' I guess as they didn't check that when I went either. I know the next check at 20 weeks they check everything such as liver, kidney and heart so possibly they do it then? sorry not much help :shy:

They didnt do that for me either, which I was a bit upset about. I would have asked more questions but |I was in shock with things being how they were.

Not sure hun, but I guess its normal?

Im pretty sure we seen but did not hear HB on the ultrasound any concerns they would have said!

MW may not be able to get the HB quite yet either ... Depends :D I got my HB at home though around 10 weeks. Maybe you could buy one? Although the digital HB monitors depending on person aren't advised because people panic when its not the same (I did a couple of times).

You had a home one? Was it an expensive one? I do want one, and I probably will get one, I just don't know which one yet!

yeah, they never have the sound ON when I went for ultrasounds.
I only heard my baby in my dr's office on her little Doppler.

Toriaaaa, I think you can rent dopplers for about £25 a month.. I read that in a magazine somewhere. You can buy them as well, but I think theyre about £100.

https://www.hi-baby.co.uk/acatalog/doppler_rental.html?gclid=CMGrwa2t4Y8CFQrdlAod2wh78g might be worth a look?

I think a few of the girls who have them to own have got them on ebay. Might be worth a look, as they might be a bit cheaper?

I think were looking at getting one, I just would panic if I couldnt find anything!

I never heard the HB at eitherof my scas - saw them but not heard them. You get to hear it at your 16 week appt, they don't tend to try for it before then as because the baby is still low down in your pelvis they dn't always find it and it can cause some women to worry. Then everytime they see you they listen for the heart rate as routine. Not sure why you neededto know the beats per minute but if at your scan they would have had any concerns they would have said so. I personally wouldn't worry and just look forward to your 16 week appt.
