I've been working lots over the weekend. I work for a hotel and was carrying heavy boxes of glasses and stuff. I found it really hurt my stomach and back. I guess this is because of my hormones relaxing my ligaments but is there really any danger to the baby from heavy lifting?

I was always told that there wasn't any real danger, but it's just not advised in late pregnancy due to danger of overbalancing.

I may be wrong though, so if anyone knows any more........

i moved house when i was in the 1st tri and becoz im single had to do most of the lifting carrying etc if u have to lift heavy stuff bend ur knees and hold the box close to your body u be ok aslong as u dont pull your back or tummy doing so

Personal opinion.. I dont think is ok to lift heavy things! specially when u r in ur first trimester.

Depends on your body. If you think you can handle it then don't worry

I was told by my doc not to lift anything over 20 pounds

I'm a firefighter and I'm not allowed to gear up or even lift an SCBA (weighs about 10 pounds) to put it on.

We moved house when I'd just found out I was PG although most of the work was taken off my hands I still did things.

Moved 2 weeks ago as well and well tbh I'm exhausted and have been getting things moved around slowly but YOU feel your limits and if it gets to 'too much' you must stop. Do what your comfortable with ... 100% comfortable x

yep i agree u will know what ur body can handle or not aslong as its not like washing machines or anything lol

It is all about being sensible, if you are doing something that makes you uncomfortable or hurts, then stop and don't do it as it is your body's way of telling you that it is too much for you! :hugs:

Just do what you think you can :hugs:. Your body will let you know when its had enough. I moved our fridge later in the first tri! Not sure how much of a good idea that was (since i ruined the floor ) but the baby is still fine!

Thanks for all the replies!! Where I work if I didn't do what my manager wanted be too, like carrying heavy boxes of glasses, she'd just send me home and tell me there's nothing else I can do, even if I know there is. She just wants to do all the easy jobs!! I wouldn't get paid if I went home and I really need the money.

You need your health more babe! And she can't discriminate! :hugs:

have you had your rusk assesment done hun?
She can't send you home for not lifting if it is uncomfortabel/dangerous for you to do so, if she wants to play that game go on the sick then you have to get paid ;)
