Heavy period 1 week early?

Hi ladies..I'm not actually trying to conceive but didn't know where else to post. I've always had extremely regular periods (every 26-28 days, lasting 2-3 days & not heavy but not light), I've only ever missed a period once in my whole life and that was when I was pregnant with my son.

However, this month I got my period an entire week early, it lasted 4 days and it was really heavy?

Can anyone shed any light on why this might have happened? Has it happened to anyone else? Just curious to see if it was just a freaky thing or it actually means something?

Hmmm, my only thought is that you must of ovulated earlier this month? Thus, you would have your period sooner.

Thanks for your response Bee Bee! Yes I guess that's a possibility even though that's never happened before. Hope it doesn't become the norm as it's bad enough having a period every 4 weeks let alone every 3 weeks lol
