hi ladies :flower:
this is my 2nd baby and pregnancy and i just wanted to ask a few questions from anyone if they have experienced something similar ?
when i stand up, i feel a very strong heavy pressure on my cervix. it feels like when i was full term with my son, when his head was engaged and sitting there and its kind of worrying ?
i had a large bleed at 10 weeks due to a sensitive cervix and now this is worrying me. it doesnt matter if im standing for 5min or 30min, the pressure is always there, but it gets too much to handle after a while and i HAVE to sit down.
is this normal?
i mention it a little at my appt last week and she didnt really say anything ?

I would go in and get checked out, dear, just in case you have an incompetent cervix. :hugs: It might be nothing, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

to be honest, the drs around my area are pretty crappy :( all they will do is tell me its normal, listen to bubs hb and send me home, i can guarantee it . i live on an island so i cant really go anywhere else in the area :nope: i really dont know what to do

Tell Dr you want to know if your cervix is incompetent or not. You want to know for sure.

how do they tell if it is ?

I haven't had a baby so can't compare with that but I do have a heavy feeling like he's ready to come out...

If you can get an internal scan done, they can check the length of the cervix and see if it is funnelling from the inside i.e. opening and thinning. I'm sure you are fine though. I've gone through phases of having a similar sensation and shooting pains in my cervix to the point that I even went as far as having a private scan to check it, and everything was fine

I have exactly the same feeling u describe for about 2weeks, I went to my doctor he did an internal, took bloods and swabs. They were all ok. I'm seeing a consultant in 2weeks cos I've got a mild prolapse and this is what the doctor thinks it is, as well as having spd. I'm off work cos I can't stand for long periods cos the heavy feeling makes me feels like my insides are falling out and its so uncomfortable and I don't have the opportunity to sit down much in my job. I also worried about incompetent cervix and worried myself sick after reading stuff on google cos i've had treatment on my cervix in the past, but I've had a scan and everything is ok. My midwife assured me this is quite common with the more pregnancy's you have. I'm sure everything is fine xxx

I think i would just ask the midwife to give you a onece over and try and explain how worried you are hun.. hope you get some light on this, sorry not much help

Oh and just wanted to say congrats on your pink bump i recognised you from ttc

i would say see if you can get an ultrasound. i wouldn't think you have an incompetant cervix simply bc you probably would have MCed during one of your pregnancy, of course no one can know for sure. I get the feeling you are describing every now and then...i do see a trend though, all of us who have experienced this, have had at least one baby, so perhapes its just the cervix is different now because we've already been pregnant and had a baby before...or at least thats what i think, for me, is the reason why. Unless you are getting terrible cramping and/or bleeding badly, i dont think its of concern, but i would still want to know everything is okay so i would demand tests! and if all comes back good then you can have your mind at ease. :hugs:

I had this same feeling for a couple of weeks, right at about 16-20 weeks. I'm now 26 weeks and its gone away, I think *for me* it was just my body getting used to him growing so quickly. This is also my second baby and my first one was 8 years ago! So, maybe this is the case for you too and it will go away in a couple weeks.

thanks everyone :flower: its nice to know im not the only one experiencing it
i might go ask to be checked out just to put my mind at ease. im not sure what they will do though as they are quite crappy here. if they say its all fine and normal without doing any tests or anything , should i demand tests or not bother ?

I think you should follow your intuition. If are still second thinking it after they refuse you, then i would try just one more time, and if they refuse it again, after much persistence, i guess all you can do is weight it out :hugs:

i wish i live somewhere else lol

I was spotting from 13w-17w so I went to the hospital for a scan (at 16w) and had my doctor check for an incompetent cervix at 18w. He basically used a speculum (what they use for a pap) to open me up and just looked inside to see if my cervix was closed or not. Not invasive at all, took all of 10 seconds. If it had been open a bit they can stitch it shut and they'll take the stiches out a couple of weeks before you're due.

Can you go to a hospital to get checked out just for peace of mind??. I'm not sure what its like in Australia, in Ontario if I have a problem and can't get a doctor's appointment or its late at night, I go to the emergency department. Thats where I got my ultrasound done for the spotting and they would have checked my cervix too had I asked. I didn't have an appointment for 4 more weeks and I just couldn't drive myself crazy for that long. I'm not sure if thats even possible depending on where you are living.

I'm sure everything is ok, but its awful to worry. Its hard to know whats not normal with all the tugging, pulling and kicking down there!! :)
