Hi Everyone :hi:

First of all it is great to find a website like this - I'm feeling better about reading things from people who are in the same boat at the same time! :happydance:

I have quite a funny story (or at least I think so!)

I was coming off the pill to go on the coil as I was getting concerend about all of the chemicals that are going into my body. My doc tested me for any infections and I found out I had TV (I think that was it!) and had to go on antibiotics that react really bady if you consume any alcohol with them ( I had a bad reaction the last time I was on them!) I was so aware of not even touching alcohol in any food that I forgot that they cancel the pill D'OH!!

So at the end of last week I start to feel like I'm going to start my period, but I don't and then I start feeling worse so I decided to do a HPT which was positive! I started crying, shaking, I couldn't believe it and then I twigged what had happened!

My partner, who is abroad working this week of course had no idea so I rang him and woke him at 5am his time!

Anyway, we are both really shocked and a bit scared! We have been together for over four years, I am 27 he is 32 and we live together but we are pleased and excited at the same time! I can't wait for him to come home tomorrow so I can talk to him face to face and have a hug and then tell our parents!! I have calcuated I am in my fourth week.

Why the hell to they call it morning sickness, I feel horrible all day long, nausea, breasts hurt, burping etc trying to disguise it at work is really hard as I am grinning at the same time as moaning! Also had to tell work collegues that I am on antibiotics again to explain my lack of drinking!

I'm also scared to get too excited in case anything should go wrong, you see I was giving up smoking (I had stopped for five weeks) using the tablet Champix which says not to take it if you are pregnant, I have spoken to my nurse who says not to worry, but I'm sure you know how I feel, I can't wait to have our first doctors appointment where they 'put me in the system' and we can have a scan!

Does anyone know what happens on your first doctors appointment when you tell them you are pregnant? I am in the UK.

I look forward to making some friends on here in the future! Thank you for reading my story!!

:cloud9:

hiya and congrats on your news! Wow, whata suprize!
It is easy to think you're still on the pill if you've beenon it years. I still get into bed each night, tunr out the light then go "doh, forgot my ill!"...it's only a second later I remember I've been off the pill for a year and am pregnant!!!

I'm not in the UK, but France, but I guess your first appointment will be like mine - sent for lots of blood tests, to confirm the pregnancy, check for STDs and to check your immunity against certain things. They'll also just check the levels of various bits of your blood and determine your blood group of you dont know (I didnt havea cue!) They took my weight, blood pressure and gave me an estimated due date.

Good luck! And welcome to the group - it's a good place to share your worries and moans I find!!

im also not in the uk but first congrats!
second the first appointment they dont do much. i didnt get weighed but was sent for blood tests and given a time line for the pregnancy including due date. i was told about when they do scans and given the info on different testing you can do for problems. that is a bit scary but the doctor will tell you so you can consider different things none of it you have to do- except for testing they do routinely at about 20 weeks.

its not all that eventful and some doctors wont see you for a while so you may have to wait for an appointment. i had my first scan at 8 weeks and went to the doc first time at 5 weeks. he said that was a bit early and told me to wait 2 weeks for the scan when i thought i was 7 wks, but according to the scan i was 8 already ( they can always be off a few days). o and they will want you to take folic acid and then a pregnancy vitamin which they will give u prescriptions for and also here where i live the flu shot (injection).

wishing you a lovely healthy 9 months :)

hello and welcome to baby and bump, what part of the uk are you from? I am from just outside london, on my first doctors appointment, they took my weight, height, urine sample, blood pressure and felt my tummy to make sure bubba seemed to be in the right place.Congratulations its so exciting, but a little painful, lol have the same symptons as you plus, vomitting all the time, looking forward to the blooming part. xx

Thats going to be a good story to tell in years to come!! Congrats and welcome :hi:
