Hello every one, all you nice people.

I am Graham, new here, just second post, 1st post is in "Introduce" if any one care to read.
You will then know more about me than what I write here.

Myself and Fay are heading into the unknown, as far as assisted pregnancy is concerned.

Fay is 30, fine, fit, healthy, no problems.
I wish I could say the same for me.
I am little older, fit, healthy, 156 million swimmers (4x minimum required) but they are not strong swimmers.

So they need a little help in finding the egg.:hugs:

My specialist has suggested no need IVF, just a more simpler AP would suffice.
He even said, there is a chance Fay will conceive normally, but not a great chance.
We have been TTC normally for around 5 months.
Yes this is short, but because our ages, we want to get into gear sooner rather than later.

We are in Cheshire, so I presume the specialists for this AP will be Manchester and Liverpool.

So far I have only heard of Liverpool Womans Hospital.
I have no idea of costs, or procedure, or where to apply.

Please can the good members here start us off on the right track.

Graham & Fay.

I have no idea about UK so hopefully some of the UK ladies can fill you in on that. If you are not on NHS I assume you would have to go private. In the US an IUI can range from a few hundred to $2000+ depending on the clinic and what medications are used. If Fay is fine though you may be able to do the IUI with less medication and monitoring for her, if any at all. My clinic is only $425 for just the IUI and the sperm prep.

With a count that high it may be less of a problem if they aren't strong swimmers. They will do a wash to get only the best of the best swimmers and put them right where they need to be. I believe the minimum they like to see is 10 million with 30% motility post wash so if you are starting out with 154 million odds are you will be fine. Worth trying.

Good luck :dust:

Hi Graham

We are in Cheshire to and have been referred to Liverpool Womens after and initial consultation at The Countess Of Chester. We have to have ICSI due to DH poor swimmers. We have been looking into go private just to speed things up. Each clinic is different when it comes to pricing. If you want to pay for treatment have a look at CARE Manchester or Manchester Fertility Service.

Have you been put on a waiting list for any treatment?

My advice is to get on google and read everything you can!

i think speaking to your GP for a referral is a good place to start - ours referred us to an NHS hospital (we are in Scotland); most treatments cost whether it's private or on the NHS but obviously NHS is cheaper :D.
Good luck xxx

hi hun i think a simple iui would be good for u 2 its only like a cathetar tube into the cervix and shorten the journey most docs will refer u to hospital to have it done but its fairly non invasive and doesnt require drugs or anything and its quite cheap too

Hi and welcome to BnB, i am at St Mary's hospital in Manchester me and my OH who also has a low sperm count are doing are icsi treatment on the NHS the staff there are great. We are able to have 3 cycles on the NHS. I think it is a good idea to speak to your GP or some one at the hospital about it all just so you can find out what you are entitled to. Any ways best of luck got every thing crossed for you xx
