Hello all,

I am so new to this site but its crazy how its helped me over the past few weeks! :) I am so relieved to know that there are so many like me out there! :)
I am 28 and I recently found out that I am pregnant for the first time!:happydance: I am now about 7 weeks pregnant! I have my first appointment with the doctor on the 27th of Sep!

Until 2 days back, everything was going fine until I suddenly had swollen gum and excruciating pain in my lower right jaw, my ear, my head because of my wisdom tooth! I cannot open my mouth or eat anything (another thing I am worried about, cuz I need to eat now)
Honestly, I have never felt so much pain in my life, I almost started to wonder if I had to go through this for the next nine months, I would jump off a roof!:nope:
Went to the emergency dental section yesterday, after a long long wait and the doctor told me that I have horrible infection which has spread and gave me antibiotics for 7 days and paracetamol for pain and asked me to come back after 10 days for extraction!!!
I havent got a chance to feel happy about my pregnancy yet, I tried almost everything, hot water gargle with salt, clove oil, brushing my teeth after every meal.... but nothing helped!
I am now on paracetamol which definitely helps but I am wondering if so much medicine is good for the baby? Also, I am worried if the infection will ever go away! I have not spoken to anybody in the past 3 days. The only thing I could think of doing was posting a thread here cuz people are just so very warm and going through the same thing!

Dont know if the medicines are good for the baby?
Dont know if i should do the extraction?
Dont know if not eating is affecting the baby?
Havent even gone for my first check up yet, went straight to the dentist! :dohh::

never been so low in my whole life! and I hope the pain leaves me soon!
thanks for listening guys! I wish u all good luck and I hope god never makes anybody go through so much pain EVER!!!
I love u all already! :)

Hi and welcome to BnB :hi:

I realy feel for you regarding the infection, my whole jaw is swollen from a wisdom tooth and a broken tooth next to it, I did have antibiotics that worked but im still waiting for the extraction appontment and the blooming infection has come back so im picking up some more tommow

I dont actualy know about the painkillers doing any harm, did you tell your dentist you where pregnant? might be worth mentioning it to a dr or your mw just to check they are fine.
I put off going to the dentist my whole pregnancy which I realy regret now I have to pay for it again :)
As long as your dentist knows your pregnant extraction should be fine and you will feel 1000 times better for it after and be able to concentrate on enjoying your pregnancy and as for not eating much as long as your eating something youll be amazed how much nutriants your baby actualy takes from you, youll feel the strain of it long long before your baby does.

Get some corsydol toothpaste and mouthwash, it taste absoloutly vile but is brilliant at helping with infections because its antibacterial (check first that its ok to take when pregnant as I cant actualy remember.

On a plus note if you can get through the pain of this labour is atualy nothing compared to toothache from a wisdom tooth :)

Welcome to BnB honey! Enjoy your time here! PM me if you just want a chat :)
:hugs:
