Hi All,

I am very very confussed at the moment and was just wondering if anyone has ever been through the same as me or could give me some helpful advice.

I thought I was about 9 weeks pregnant... but for the last few days have been a paranoid mess thinking that something was wrong as my symptons faded and i just didnt feel pregnant anymore. So i booked myself into a private scan yesterday... as i thought the scan showed up a yolk sac but no fetal pole. The Sonographer confirmed i was 9 weeks pregnant and had recently lost the baby. As you can imagine i was devestated.

SO, today i went to the early pregnancy unit at the hospital to be booked in for what needed to be done, but before they booked an appt for me they gave me an INTERNAL scan just to confirm that the baby had gone... And guess what!?? there was a little heart beat..they said it wasnt very strong but could improve by next week when i have been booked in for a follow up scan. I couldnt believe it, i really thought i had lost the baby..BUT to confuse me even more the sonographer said i was only 5-6 weeks pregnant but with a large uterus that would be associated to a nine week pregnancy..the embro measured 5mm?????????

So as you can imagine my head is all over the place and hope someone can shed some light on whats going on.:wacko:

It sounds like you may just be earlier that you thought, and thats why they couldn't yet see the yolk sac or heartbeat at the private scan. They normally only do internal scans up to about 8 weeks, because of this exact reason.

Just be relieved that there is a heartbeat, and try not to worry about the dates. Babe will be measured easier further along. And it just may be that you have a big uterus !!! Dunno, but HB is good, so focus on that.

Congrats :hugs: :happydance:

:hugs: Thats a really horrible thing to be going through.

The EPU always measure the fetus to work out your dates. Did the sonographor at your private scan not do that?

Although they tell you that early scans are very accurate, they're not really because I had a scan at 9 weeks and another a week and a half later and got 2 different dates.

Hopefully you just aren't as far gone as you thought but unfortunatly it might not be a good sign because 3 weeks difference is quite a lot.

I really hope it all works out though and that your L.O's heartbeat gets stronger. :hugs:

What a topsy turvey few days you've had. Congratulations on the heartbeat. I would not worry too much about how many weeks you are or thought you were. :hugs:

Thanks Girls.... Just hope all is ok. Say a little prayer for me.

Anita665.. the sonographer couldnt find the fetus to work out my EDD she was just going on how far gone i thought i was.

Thanks for your advise xxx :O)

Good news hun. I'm praying your LO's HB will get stronger and stronger!

Good luck lovely - hope all works out will with your bean x

With my daughter i was taken into hospital at 5 weeks with pain in abdomen, they did an internal scan and JUST made out the yolk sac, had to go back 2 weeks later and everything was fine!! Hope all is well, fingers crossed and all the best!!!

They thought I was much further along then I was, and found it when they did my internal sonogram. I go back at 8 weeks (seems like forever) to see the little one and a heartbeat hopefully!!! Good luck!! :hugs:

Gee, sounds like you've had quite a roller coaster ride!

:hugs: and prayers that everything is well!

Wow,what a story. I am so sorry for you going through the heart ache of thinking you'd lost your baby but woooooow, you still have your baby!!! That's fantastic news, I really hope you continue with a healthy pregnancy. Let us know how you get on at your follow up scan.
