So I've had a lot of problems with nausea for the past several weeks, and my MIL has her own homeopathic/natural healing practice and came to me last week to tell me that Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis) drunk as tea is helpful to women in their first trimester with morning sickness... normally I roll my eyes at her suggestions but at this point I was willing to try just about anything.

So I've had 1 cup a day for the past 3 days, and miraculously, I HAVE been feeling better. So I googled Melissa officinalis to see if this was common in the rest of the world and I've been reading all sorts of websites that warn pregnant women NOT to drink it! Most websites say it can be helpful with nausea/upset stomach and with PMS but warn against using it if you're pregnant...

So now I'm worried that the reason I'm feeling better ISN'T a good sign :( Has anyone else heard anything about Lemon Balm tea? I have my first scan tomorrow and will ask the OB about it as well... but was hoping some of you might have any info??

Thanks :help:

Hi there. I use herbs and grow all kinds. I study them endlessly and lemon balm is just fine to use in pregnancy, I use it all the time. I use peppermint and lemon balm it works great.
