Hi there,
Before baby comes you can get:
income support or income based jobseekers allowance (around £50 a week i think)
Health in pregnancy grant at 25 weeks (one off payment of £190)
Sure start maternity grant at 29 weeks (one off payment of £500)
Healthy start vouchers from 10 weeks (one voucher per week worth £3.10)
Also if you are entitled to income support you should also get the following:
Houosing benefit (depending on LHA, mine is £121 per week)
Council tax benefit (mine is £23 per week)
you can stay in your private rented property, the council pay you-not your landlord so as long as you keep paying the monthly installments to your landlord you will be fine. if the rent is more than what the council give you you will just have to make up the difference yourself. i.e if you get £480 per month housing benefit and your rent is 600-you need to find the extra 120.
Once baby comes as well as housing benefit, council tax benefit, income support and the vouchers you will get:
Child benefit (£20.30 per week)
Child tax credit (mine will be £243 per month)
These are all based on if you arent working and not gettin maternity pay etc.
I hope this helps! it is all very complicated and takes forever to sort out but there is lots of help available to you! go to direct.gov.uk and you can take a questionnaire which will show you what benefits you are entitled to!
You can also talk to CSA about claiming some money from your ex partner to help the bub but this will also affect your benefits!
Good luck
xxxxxx
