Okay ladies...

Yesterday I decided to go walk around town with my OH since the weather was so nice. We walked quite a bit and towards the end I was having some pretty nasty pelvic pains, but that's usual when I've walked a lot.

Today, I was fine this morning, took a shower and such, no problems. Went to the store for like 20 minutes, hardly even that, and about halfway through I started having really nasty lower back pains along with lots of pressure in my pelvis. That was about two hours ago and I'm still having dull lower back pain that gets worse (really worse) every now and then, but not regularly.

I'm having NO contractions in my belly or anything of any kind, it's like my belly has nothing to do with what's going on in my back...

Can labor start in the back like that with no contractions at all? I have no show of any kind, not really any change in my discharge, no loose stools (been slightly more difficult, actually.)

Any help/advice would be GREATLY appreciated. I really want to know if this is labor onset.

I suppose it could be. But it could also just be a reaction to having walked so long/far. I know my back aches a lot even when I stand for too long!

Good luck and keep us posted! :-)

i thought i was in labour cos i was having braxton hicks in my back, Back labour is the most painful labour some people have contractions without a break with back labour!xx

I had back pains now for a week, nothing is progressing. I guess if it's not contractions, just a dull pain, it doesn't mean anything, just that your body is tired. Rest for a bit and see if goes away.

I had back labour with my little girl. My contractions started in my back and were 2/3 mins apart from the beginning so there was no doubt I was in labour. I never felt any contractions in my belly at all and didn't get a show until I was already about 5 or 6 cms dialated and my waters also broke very late into the labour. If the pains come in waves and there's a peak to them then I would say they are contractions. If it is more of an ache then I would think it's more to do with your walk.
If you are in labour then I'll warn you that if your baby is back to back then the labour is likely to be longer and end in an assisted delivery (unless the baby turns again). I kept telling my midwife that I thought my baby was back to back because of where the pain was and she still let me push for 3 hours and there's no way I could have got her out by myself!
Hopefully it's just backache but good luck just in case!

I had back labour with my daughter. Not a single contraction in or above/ around my bump. I had a bit of pain that ran below my bump from hip to hip but it was all under bump and in my pelvic bone. My back hurt so bad though, I was crying for anyone to make it stop as they also had me on a pitocin drip. I begged the cleaning lady to turn it off even

Hi hun, i had back labour with my first. I felt no pain in my stomach what so ever but constant pain in my back. I couldn't even sit down it was that bad. Its really hard to describe but once you had a contraction you knew about it. I'd hate anyone to have back labour. I had a long labour because of it that ended in ventouse. They do say back labour is the worst. So hope i don't get it again.
