So Alexander is now a month and a half and has been bottle feeding on the same bottles since two weeks....i went out and bought more nipples not paying attention to the flow or age of them :dohh: and this didn't seem to bother him at all until just recently.

I cannot figure out what his problem is.....whether it is the flow...whether it is too fast or too slow....and now the only time he doesn't care about feeding is if he is extremely (like bawling) hungry or it is a night time feed.....

he is eating fine....but throughout the feed he gets frustrated and stops and then dry heaves or chokes......

I am currently using the gerber nipples.....not sure age of course cuz i am dumb.

i got those vari-flow nipples and after an hour of feeding he only got 10mls...so i have no clue what to do.

any suggestions? could he just up and decide one day that he no longer likes a certain nipple?????? :hissy: anyone use thes bottle with different nipples that work well?

I'm not sure (we've always used fast flow nipples--Hannah hated the slow flow ones). I'd try a different one though. 10 mls in an hour  sounds like he's having to work way to hard

that exactly what it was.....and the next time i tried these nipples he wimpered and feel asleep...so these no drip vari flow nipples are not the answers....its like the powerade bottles...you suck as hard as you need....

thanks vickie......the faster flow ones make him choke......

:hugs:

have you tried the faster flow for a few days? He may adjust quickly to the flow and than do better?

Ya, maybe he needs the faster ones??? Jasmine still cant use faster flow nipples though.

I use evenflo Medium flow on Renah. I had to move her up at about 6 weeks because she took over an hour to take 2 oz.

Also! I find Renah chokes too but the way to prevent it is kinda tip the bottle a little bit so the nipple isn't facing down his throat, kinda push the bottle down so the hole is more faced up and he has to suck to get it out, instead of it flowing too fast.

You could try medium flow.. I had to move Colton to medium flow pretty young, but he has had those same ones since.

Oh those darn vari-flows I hate them ..it took max 2 hrs to finish 3 oz I said F*** this and got some medium flow and some fast flow and he adjusted very well

try loosening the lid a little, apparently, if its too tight its too hard for them to suck the milk out, so after uve made it up and warmed it up just loosen the lid slightly, obviously check u havent opened it up too much so the milk pours over him when u tip it (like i did the other day lol)
