hiya i had an oversupply with my first dd1 due to having to pump the first week she was born as we had trouble latching but apart from colic she coped well with the faster flow.
With dd2 she latched on great and was nursing fine till my milk come in and boy did it come in my engorgement was so bad this time. She chokes splutters gags etc so cue colick symptoms around 2 weeks. I already have been unlatching her and catching the letdown but i seem to have multiple letdowns during the feed quite close together. So started infacol and first couple of days seemed fine but then she started spitting up after her feed and even some time after and the infacol would make her burp with such a force a load of milk kept coming straight up -i persisted with the infacol the past 2 weeks but apart from the burps she just seemed unsettled and bringing up more milk. I stopped it and in a few days the spit up has reduced a little but is still there-more than with dd1. I keep her upright after her feeds but if i have to change her then the milk tends to come back up . Ive been starting blockfeeding but my right breast produces way more than my left. Shall i blockfeed more on my left to build the supply up amd reduce the right slightly?
But because of the letdown she is starting to refuse to nurse particularly evening and night -refuses to comfort nurse just keeps coming off of clamping down so out of desperation gave her a dummy which settled her for a bit. but she just seems so gassy and uncomfy that when she naps she is fidgety.
She does have plenty of wet and dirty nappies .
So sorry its long but any advice to make her more comfy would be great

Have you tried nursing lying down or leaning back? It really helps me - get gravity on your side!

^WSS! I had fast flow and strong let down so I used the lying back/slouch technique. Means baby has to work a bit harder for the milk and its not just pouring into them and choking them. Have them sitting up, face on to your nipple. Straddle them across your thigh like they're riding a horse. Also you could try letting them find the nipple and self latch - through head bobbing and wriggling. Makes for an excellent latch x

Thanks lieing down definitely helps over night will have to try the upright position currently starting detinox but she screams when I give it to her:nope: just hope it all works.

I have the exact same problem, i also seem to have multiple letdowns, usually bad around 11 am. I express for a couple of mins first helps a bit. I'm also using dentinox

I have discovered I have over active let down... Probably another contributing factor to him screaming/refusing my boob! Wish I had discovered it sooner and knew how to combat it!

I think I only have it during the day though as he is fine now with night feeds and doesnt choke/splutter and I cant see and sprays when he pulls off :/

I have tried the layback with him more ontop of me and it did help once I eventually got him latched! But he was so wriggly when I was trying to latch him!

My friend has the same problem and she just waits till her LO pulls off and then catches the sprays with a muslin until its calmed down and then relatches baby. I tried this with my boy but he got impatient waiting and then wouldnt latch again :( but hes just fussy in general so it may work for you!

I have the same problem, no advice but feel ur pain, o find also my Lil one copes better with it after a nap.

All the best!

I'm just starting block feeding too. My right produces more but I'm just taking it in turns, blocks of about 4 hrs and my 1 week old feeds roughly every1- 1.5 hrs though I'm hoping the new regime will cut that down as I'm sure she sucks for comfort from gas then compounds the problem. My last baby had the same issues. I swear I could easily feed a family of four with my supply!!
