help!! Just started using formula

I have a 3 week old and have started using formula every other feed as i am not expressing enough milk. She usually drinks about 3oz of breast milk every 2 hours but only manages 1oz of formula is this normal when changing to formula??? xxx

Maybe she finds formula more filling? Sometimes FF fed babies need feeding less often. Or maybe she's just getting used to the taste of formula? Is she tired after a formula feed, maybe she needs a bigger teat size to get the milk out easier? That's all my ideas!

i have only been using it for 2 days. Last night i gave her formular at 10 and she slept 3 and a half hours which is the most shes ever slept. after she woke up at half 1 i was giving her expressed milk every 2 hours and was sleeping fine. This morning i gave her formula again( Once again only drank 1 oz) and has not been sleeping all day she sleeps for like 5 minutes and wakes up again looking for food. I have been giving her breast but she has acouple of sucks and falls asleep and then wakes up after 5 minutes. Shes been really unsettled all day. Im not sure what im doing wrong

Hi there, when I was mixfeeding Carmen (FF&EBM) she had allways less formula milk than breast milk. I would say about ounce or 2 difference. Formula is so much more filling for them. She will up her quantity in no time so I would say it is absolutely normal. Soon you will be worrying wheather she takes too much LOL (at least I did).

you are not doing anything wrong just it looks like your LO is going through a growth spurt if she is looking for food just give her even when she takes just a little bit.

My baby boy was on combi feed from day 1. Expressed breast milk all day and 2-3 formulas through the night, But he did always drink more breastmilk. It has a sweater taste. I have had him combi feeding on SMA and never had a problem with him, infact instead of loosing weight when cooming out of hospital he gained 3oz lol, hope this helps x

Plus you are not doing anything wrong, aslong as she is feeding even if its little or often then thats fine, You know if something isn't right, but sounds fine, try not to worry, she will soon find her feet aswell as a routine x

Formula is more filling than breast milk -- formula fed babies often wait longer in between feedings, and also get a little chubbier. That's what I was told, anyway!

i found that when i started giving max formula the slept a lot longer as he was fuller and more settled and also went from 3 hours between feeds to 4 hours.
