Hope someone can help. We have had to change our DD's clothes every time we fed her today cos she throws up. I do try to wind her to see if I can get the up-chuck then when we are prepared wth muslin in hand but she tends to do it after 10 minutes or so when she is laid down.
I'd just managed to get her into her moses basket for first time just now but then same throwup scenario...she has also had really explosive poos.

Does anyone know what this could be?

We've had a fair few visitors today and so she's passed from pillar to post. Also, I think my milk has just started to come in...could it be to do with this? Maybe it's richer and she can't cope? She can't be poorly can se? Should I phone midwife?

Ive had this problem with Caitlin from day one I went from SMA to cow & gate helped as sick was so bad on SMA but its never really gone! At one point it seemed to calm then onto foods she wen (weaning) & after every feed with no doubt she would be sick ...we would sit her up for an hour like arms, bumbo, chair, walker etc for hour before letting her down to play but no matter what she would still be sick! However I see the bottle/formula isn't an issue for you but reflux is still possible for BF babies.

8 months old before having heard the typical 'some babies are just sicky' the doctor said 'reflux' with no doubt (new quack) I will never tell that to another Mum again myself liek I have done thinking the same about my baby!

Caitlin has baby gaviscon which helps however seems to be use to it & its starting again but talking to someone tonight after trying nearly every milk and having same problem Hipp did the job for their baby and I'm going o try it although shes older age! Also if it is reflux you can get milk on perscription for this ...my Caitlin was too old to start that milk (mad like as it may have helped her).

I would say talk to HV & GP and never let it go every week it goes on if it does.

Anyway Ive rambled I only really wanted to say don't let it slide by be fobbed off with its normal if it doesn't calm - keep noting it with them & probably other ladies who BF will have more sound advice.

Do you keep her upright during and after a feeding? I try not to lay Kaida down straight away.. I try and sit her up for about 20/30 minutes after a feed, with as little stimulation as possible. Or she'll just puke her meal up, then brought on by hiccups.
Also, if you're burping her, try to avoid over the shoulder technique as it presses on their stomach. Burp between feeding on one breast, before switching breast, and after. As gas maybe a cause. I am guessing you're breastfeeding..?
However, I guess it works either way.

Or maybe it's the brand of formula? If she's bottle fed...

Good luck!

Holding them upright and keeping them still for 15-30 minutes definitely seems to help. Also when you are burping her, try rather rubbing her back instead of tapping it, this is apparently more comfortable for babies who have reflux.

Hi Lizzie!

I have the same problem... but my LO is only throwing up after a formula feed not after breast milk!
My doc has advised us to give her a dose of infacol before each feed which seems to be helping a little.... Maybe u could try that too?

Have you tried putting a pillow under her cot/moses basket mattress so she is on a slight incline? I have heard this can help

Hope it gets better soon :hugs:

Oh and my LO has had explosive poos since 4 weeks, they arent anything to worry about (well apart from leakages :))

We've had a much better day today. Mainly because we've been expecting the "posseting". I'm resuming now this is what it is. I think she is simly a tad greedy. She picked up BFing from the first try after birth and the better she gets at it she seems to be showing off by doing it more and more. I'm definitely going to try the calmer way of burping..the tapping doesn't seem to get any wind up. Also, wil try sitting her up for longer......it's all so new..had simply been laying her back down and not giving her any time sitting upright.

My milk has definitely come in today and my boobs have changed so much that it is now affecting the posiion I can use to feed...maybe a more upright position will be more comfortable all round. Am a little disappointed cos I'd just found comfy positions that didn't put too much strain on my wrists which have been very painful and swollen. I didn't realise that a tiny baby could be so heavy! lol

Thanks for the advice...I'm really hoping I can keep this up :)

Get some pillows!! lol
Glad its a little better.
Tabs has reflux and is on 2 types of anti sickness meds and baby gaviscon now. But i swear by gripe water before almost every feed (the basic boots one) works so well with her bringing up burps as if she doesnt she soon projectiles with loads of air coming up.
xx

Yeah, I have pillows but am struggling on the whole getting me comfy bit and concentrating more on her being comfy to feed!LOL I won't be like this for much longer I don't think...she feeds all the time!
I may try gripe water in future but am going to try to perservere with the winding and sitting etc for the time being.
