Hi, I'm really tangled up trying to sort out what I would be entitled to if I go back to uni. I am thinking of studying midwifery. I already have a primary degree in payhology. I am married, and separated, so do I need to include my ex's income even though i don't get any of it? I would be grateful if anyone could answer any of the questions I have.

Is the midwifery course full funded by the NHS?

Would I be entitled to the non means tested bursary from NHS even though I have a degree already?

Do my tax credits affect the student support I would recieve, or vice versa?

Could I claim housing beneift while studying full time?

Am I entitled to any help towards childcare if studyign full time and have a young child and am single?

Can I still class myself as single even though Im married, but we are separated???

How much of a bursary would I recieve?

How much tax credits would I recieve?

Is there any other benefits I can claim while studyign full time?

Thanks to anyone who attempts to answer any of the questions, really want to consider going back but need to make sure I can afford it and have no clue where to start, I cant make sense of the websites

Hey!

*No your exes income will not effect you.
*Yes the degree course is fully funded by the NHS
*As for finances - there is an NHS bursary, it's based on income (partners wages alone vs rent/mortgage - it's confusing) the amount of dependants effect the bursary, mine is based on my partners (low) income and we will get about £10k a year. You will also get about 85% of childcare paid for. On top of the bursary there is a £1000 non means tested bursary, you can also get a student loan if you want to apply. I think its about £2000 but you have to pay it back.
*You will only be able to claim child tax credits as they don't count studying/placement as work. They suggested not working more than 8 hours per week for midwifery as it's pretty full on.
*Housing benefit is not effected by ANY of the bursary. It's not classed as income. If you were to live with somebody then you can still claim 25% off your council tax bill for being a student.

There is financial help available - but tbh it's more childcare we will struggle with. You will need to have a good support network around you as you will be expected to work shifts and school holidays.

Hope some of this has helped x

Hi, I am taking teacher training and have been given a bursary plus the normal student loans and bursaries, I don´t know what NHS entitlement is but have you had a look here?

Hope it helps! :)
