My wee one is 10 months and is usually a total grubber, she takes four bottles, three meals and two snacks each day.

Last Thursday and Friday she had a tummy bug (vomiting) -took her to the doctors as she wasn't even keeping her milk down. They advised to offer water regularly but not to worry about her unless she couldn't keep water down or developed a temperature.

She seemed better so we offered her food Saturday, Sunday and today, but she has only been taking half her normal milk and is refusing solids completely.

What do I do?

She has also been really windy, she was a very windy baby which was put down to milk allergies. The only new food we have introduced is mandarins, which she had on Thursday for the first time, and had a few slices of on Saturday. As well as cows milk she also reacts badly to pears. I'm now thinking maybe she is allergic to citrus too? Is this likely?

She has been a total whinge in this time too. Not even proper crying, but 24/7 whining. I don't know what to do!

Oh, the only food she has properly taken is party rings. We are obviously not offering them now because I don't want to encourage fussiness!

Bless her, she's probably feeling quite poorly. It's only Monday now so it's 3 days from the bug? I'd just offer her milk a bit more often if that's what she wants and some plain soft toast just bland food really. Hopefully she will be better soon then I would give the citrus another go. If she's having wet and dirty nappies and seems OK in herself I wouldn't be too concerned

I would expect she's still feeling unwell. In my experience, it can take a few weeks to get over a bug and be totally back to normal. When my daughter had the vomiting bug earlier this year, it was about 2-3 days of vomiting and then she had the same windy tummy and loose stools for a few more days after that as the infection sort of moved on through. There is also often a period around 9-10 months of pickiness about food that usually passes. I know my daughter pretty much only ate fruit and yogurt for about a month around that time (she'd also been ill just before too). I would just offer her as much of the usual healthy food you always do as well as plenty of milk and water, which ever she'll take, so she stays hydrated and ride it out. If it still like this in a month, I might suspect allergies, but in our experience allergies were a much more severe reaction than that and that sounds very typical after a bug.

Oh yes I'd expect much longer recuperation period after a bug than a day or two. My LO would be on and off poorly for about a week after the severe vomitting was over. Even as an adult I don't always feel like swallowing food or having a full tummy after a bug.
