we have been trying to get her to sleep since 5pm but she just wont go. SHe puked up a lot of her milk 3 times in a row but we have finally managed to get some to stay down. She isnt hungry as she isnt 'searching' but she wont settle. We have tried swaddling her but she will start crying again after a couple of minutes and thrashes her arms and legs about like shes having a proper tantrum. We have even tried leaving her to cry it out for 10 mins but she just wont stop crying. I have tried rocking her, cuddling her but she just pushes me and hubby away thrashing about. Shes not too hot or cold and has a clean nappy.

Please help i dont know what to do i feel so useless. She needs her sleep what on earth stopping her going??

Is it worth trying to feed her a little more? When Abigail was this age she would basically behave this way every night and would cluster feed like crazy! She wanted to feed non stop from 7-midnight every night. It was exhausting but she grew out of it! She would never settle unless she was feeding and would cry / thrash around etc. I hope she goes to sleep soon for you, I know how stressful it is, especially when you are getting tired yourself. I thought I would have to stay up until midnight for the rest of my life at one stage!

hun i would say colic is a good possibility. You should try to get some stuff for it, it helped us no end. A bath sometimes helps and just being held, though they do seem like their pushing you away...

Google colic advise and get some info...x

This is how oliver was the first and second night we had him at home. The midwife said it was colic and told us to get some infacol which really has helped.
We tilt his moses basket to help with it, we keep him upright for as long as possible after feeds. We have a million ways of winding him from massage to over the shoulder burping.
Oliver likes it when we lay him on his tummy over our legs it helps them stretch out and bring up more wind.
Make sure the teat is always completely full of milk. Maybe look at getting some anti colic bottles? we have TT ones and they are really good
Urmmm some times just holding him to my chest and letting him listen to my heartbeat helps, midwife told me if was one of the most soothing noises for a newborn because all they heard for 9 months is your heart beat inside you.

Oh and colic always gets bad at the same time everyday. Oliver was getting grumpy at 6-8 everyday.

Oh and the hoover and hair drier work wonders too :)

Oliver is like a different baby now!

:hugs: it is hard!! Oliver is 2 weeks old and it feels like i have been battling with it for ever!

my lo wouldnt go to sleep until at least eleven when she was two weeks old, she would doze inbetween but wouldnt actually properly fall asleep till we put her to bed when we went. She would then sleep for at least 5 hours. Maybe just let her tell you when shes tired/hungry etc ??? She now goes to bed much earlier because she needs to sleep a bit longer because she doesnt nap much in the day! No need for a routine just yet I think anyway

well we were up all night last night, she woke every 2 hours to take 2oz of milk then fall asleep 15mins later. Shes now sleeping properly for the first time since yesterday afternoon but i dont know how long for! I shall try and get some anti colic stuff, hubbys taken the day off work due to not getting any sleep so he can pop ut and get some stuff as im not allowed to over do things due to my c section and lsing too much blood. God its hard work, i love the day times with her we have so much fun but i get so worked up over it all at night :(

for the first 3-5 days oliver was home i used to phone my mum everyday at 7.45 everyday crying because i couldnt cope with his screaming. But then i listened to the advice the midwifes gave me for colic and he is a dream... wakes twice at night. I mean yeah we have problems with him cluster feeding between 4-9 but i have been told its normal as he is having alot of growth at the moment, which equals growing pains... and i remember how much my legs used to hurt when i had a growth spurt!! So our poor babies must be in pain when they have their growth spurts.

Hope the anti colic stuff helps you :hugs: As i said oliver is like a different baby!

ETA: i forgot to say infacol makes wind come out of both ends :p

hey, we have some infacol! So will try it tonight. I hope it will work.

Thanks for advise.

Did it work? We use infacol and it has worked wonders, I was told it took a few days to work but we have noticed a difference instantly. My daughter was born day before yours and we had this probablem on moinday. She screamed and screamed. She now cluster feeds at night hourly but when i out her down when we go to bed she sleeps between 4 and 5 hours which is a big increse
