Hello ladies,

I need some help on SA results! DH had them done last week but he had more than 7 days abstinence. When I got the results yesterday it showed no sperm at all  I was devastated since we are planning invitro in August.

Does anyone know if the results could have been affected by the 7 days abstinence?

Any help will be appreciated it. Thanks.

Abstaining for a week or longer can actually have a negative affect on sperm count. Regular intercourse, maybe every other day, is a better option. But even with the abstinence if there was a sperm count, something still should have been there. Ask your doctor what your options are.

Abstaining for 7 days can cause low motility and morphology but there should have been some sperm found.
So sorry it sounds like azoospermia.https://www.fertilityjoy.com/azoospermia/

there is a support thread here https://www.babyandbump.com/problems-trying-conceive/376424-dealing-azoospermia.html?

next time don't let him go so long, when my o/h had his done they told him between 2-4 days no less no more because it can dramatically change the results good luck for repeat xxx

2-5 days of abstinence is the common guidelines and the benchmarks for 'normlal' will be based on that.

I would go for a re-test - good luck.

Thank you ladies. We are going to retest in April. DH had a vasectomy reversal in 2010 and I've had him on vitamins. I'm hoping we find sperm. Last year, we had a similar situation and the SA's after that showed sperm. Thank you again.

Its normal for there to be little to no sperm straight after the VR but there should be some now. good luck I hope your next SA is better.

I hope so too! I don't think DH would want to do the surgery again.
