Help please! Are these contractions??

Hi girls! I'm 6 days overdue and going into hospital this evening for induction tomorrow due to big baby. Anyway, I'm getting the worst ever period type pains roughly every 8-10 mins apart, practically having to breath through them. Some times it's at the bottom of my bump, others at the bottom of my back. Had this yesterday for 4 hours but they stopped. Today i've had them since 4 am. I'm waiting for the pain to come every 5 min until I go to the hospital.
I know this sounds stupid but my bump doesn't go as hard as it did with BH, is this normal?

they sound like proper contractions to me, midwife told me proper contraction usually start at the bottom of the bump and braxton hicks start at the top of the bump, i hope this is it for you, good luck. X

That makes sense! With BH my bump would go rock hard from the top, now the pain is mainly at the bottom. Hopefully something if happening!

I had a milder form of what your experiencing on friday last week got myself in such a state because i was so scared that i went straight to bed, if ever there was anyone who could mentally stop their labour it was me, wish i had'nt now im so tired of not being able to bend or turn over in bed, i just want little madam out now.
