My baby boy is 6 weeks old and I've been enjoying breastfeeding but I keep getting blocked ducts in my left breast. Today I seem to have another one, it's always in a different place so it's not a problem with one particular duct. Really getting fed up now as it's so painful and I'm scared I'll get mastitis.
I usually manage to unblock it within an hour or two by massaging while feeding but the other day I couldn't do it and it was blocked for over 12 hours. I got so swollen I was in tears.
Anyone got any tips for me?

I'm sorry you are dealing with this! It sounds miserable. Here's some information I found.
Good luck!!

I don't have any advice for you, but I hope things gt easier soon xxx

Thank you both for replying. Hopeful, thanks for the link, I have been doing all of that actually, I was wondering if there was a way of preventing the ducts from becoming blocked, but I don't think there is.
I really hope it doesn't keep happening as it's really so painful. Also baby gets upset as he finds it hard to feed. It's making me question if it's worth continuing or if I should just give up BF. It would be a shame if I did as I really do enjoy it most of the time.

you could try taking lecithin for recurrent plugged ducts

Lecithin has been recommended to combat recurrent plugged ducts. The usual recommended dosage for recurrent plugged ducts is 3600-4800 mg lecithin per day, or 1 capsule (1200 milligram) 3-4 times per day. After a week or two with no blockage, mom can reduce the dosage by one capsule. If there is no blockage within another 2 weeks she can reduce it again by one. Mom may need to continue taking 1-2 capsules per day if stopping the lecithin leads to additional plugged ducts.

Lecithin is a very common food additive, and is found naturally in many other foods. There are no known contraindications to its use by breastfeeding mothers

Have you figured out the cause of the blockages? Once you know the cause you can then treat / deal with it to hopefully prevent recurrences.

Do you have an oversupply? If so, you could try block feeding to reduce your supply.
