Hello,
Looking for some advice / experience please!
My LO has been unsettled for weeks, cries at night a lot, writhes in pain, sounds very angry and has a little red face lots, body goes stiff when he gets upset.
First we thought colic and tried infacol which helped his wind for a day or two then stopped. We then moved onto colief which seemed to work well for two days but then not so well.
Started to hear LO swallowing a lot and after feeds he woulod cry and contort his face and body so took him to GP who said silent reflux and gave him gaviscon. He was refluxing when in the doctors which helped to diagnose him.
As I am EBF I found it really tough as giving colief before feed in expressed milk with bottle then BF then trying to give gaviscon. Tried it yesterday in BM in a bottle rather than water and he took it better but still meant bottle (colief), breast, bottle (gaviscon), breast. Hard work. He had it at 11am, 7pm, midnight, 4am and 10am and for the first time he slept 5 hours then 4 in the night.
He generally feeds every hour or two but thats settling a bit at night. I now understand this is probably because his little throat is sore bless him.
He seemed more settled last night but I can hear him refluxing again today and it's very sad. It bothers him when it happens.
I can't give gaviscon with every feed because he feeds too often. Equally he can't bring up his wind well with gaviscon.
I spoke to doctor again and he spoke to paediatrician who said ok to prescribe rinitadine as easier to give so there is now a prescription waiting for him. I spoke with HV this morning and first she said give gaviscon a few days with colief then see if can wean him off colief but then she rang me and said swap to rinitadine.
My dilemma is what to do now. Give him colief, gaviscon, rinitadine or what?! I hate giving him meds as it is and dont want to keep chopping and changing.
He is gaining weight well due to frequent feedings. I keep him elevated as much as I can.
Please help...not sure what to do now x
