Help! Possibly stupid question...

I was just brushing my teeth and gagged, which led me to swallow an entire mouthfull of toothpaste! Should I be worried? I just read on the packaging that if you injest the toothpaste you should see a doctor.

I think you're probably OK. Just don't make a habit of it!

If you're worried you could phone your practice?

It'll be fine! Don't worry about it. I think they might mean ingesting an entire tube, say like a kid starts eating it or something. An adult swallowing the small amount you use to brush your teeth will be totally harmless. To you and to the baby.

Thanks guys, I'm sure it's probably ok as it's not as if I ate a whole tube, but I have just rung the doctors surgery and they are going to get a doctor to give me a call back shortly so hopefully that will put my mind at ease.

oh bless you pregnancy can be quite stressful at times, I'm sure it will be fine , I've stopped using mouth wash till I speak to my doctors I need it tho my gums are bleeding abit..I'm also freaked out by anti-perspirant and deodorant so I need to ask the doctors about that, I really don't want to smell bad for 9 months! lol

I'm in Buckhurst Hill, do you know it? Near Woodford & Chigwell. Where abouts are you from? I'm due September 14th

Just got off the phone with the doctor, he said such a small amount is fine but if I start to feel funny then go straight to A&E. Phew, panic over!

I did the exact same thing the other day, terrified me!

But then I thought about it rationally and they wouldn't make a toothpaste that would harm you if you swallowed a small amount while brushing otherwise people would be rushed to hospital everyday because of it.
