Hi, im now 19 but i was a premature birth and i thought that i would share my experiences so far.

I know this forum is meant for mothers to be, however i have been having continuing difficulties over the last few weeks, but first a little about myself/reassurance.

Im 19 and currently studying Business law/Accounting so things have been going well for me so far. As far as i know i was born fairly early and had to stay in an incubator for a period of time unknown to myself. My parents raised me well and i have known for a long time that i was a premature baby. I have had a few issues over the years, however i do not wish to go into further detail unless any mothers would like to know/want information.

My question is over the last few months ive been extremely stressed out and have noticed a few small issues such as stuttering occasionally, eating patterns have changed etc. i just want to know where i can go if i want to seek advice or what preemptive steps i should take to deter any issues that may be arising throughout my adulthood.

I am thinking that the issues you are experiences may be more due to stress than your prematurity. You are at a critical age and stage of life. Schooling is extremely stressful, as is venturing out in the world as an adult. I remember that time of life vividly and can honestly say it was NOT easy :). I developed OCD symptoms during my University years due to the amount of stress I was under.

My advice to you is to take a stress management course or talk to a councillor about stress management techniques. Make sure and find the time for relaxation, fun, and socialization... it will help keep the stress in check.

Good luck in your studies!
