Help! Summer project and not very creative

So Aidan has a summer project. It's to make a 3d model of his school. I am stumped. I thought of using cardboard but then what? Also has to be fairly easy so it can be his own work x
 
Do you have pic of his school? Might be easier to make suggestions if we can see what it will need to look like. I would think cardboard would be an easy base though. You can always use boxes, glue bigger or smaller boxes together if the building is irregularly shaped. Paint the boxes, etc.
 
Can't find a pic. It's in a square shaped layout. In the middle is the foundation stage playground and the bigger playground is at the back x
 
Buy foam board from a craft shop. Approximately 0.5cm in thickness. It's what architects use and it's easy to stick together with strong glue.
 
You can probably make playground equipment out of popsicle sticks and glue that to the board wherever the playground area is
