Hey there starting to wean my boy to help silent reflux hopefuly.
He is almost 5 months. We tried baby rice for a week he loved it but made him constipated so stopped.

Today we started on a tiny amount of sweet potatoe after his morning nap for breccy

I hear i should try each new food for 3-5 days to note any reactions and see if he likes it.

He is dairy and soy free and we are also avoiding egg gluten and wheat

Ima first time mum so any help much appreciated on how i should be doing this. I.e foods, when to introduce next meals etc etc

Not much advice but have a severe refluxer here who is very sensitive to acidic foods so watch out for those. They make rio's reflux very painful for him at times xx

Yea ive heard to stay away from them

How olds rio and what does he eat?

My boy seemed to react to sweet pot but then he came down with a cold so now i dont know. Ive stopped until he is better then going to try pear to start with and then millet porridge fortified with iron and pear puree for breccy for a while x

He is 7 months and eats pretty much anything we give him but Apple makes his reflux flare up and he seemed fussy after we have him mango too so I haven't tried that again. Veg wise he seems ok with everything. Only problem we have had is with baby rice, since the start he screams for hours after baby rice!
A typical day is breakfast cereal followed by fruit purée, lunch meat and veg puréed up followed by yogurt and dinner the same as lunch but followed by fruit instead. We struggle to get him to drink water as his milk is thickened because of the reflux and he chokes on anything that isn't. So at the minute my hv has recommended I make a bottle a day with more water than formula and keep trying with tippy cup x

Yea i think baby rice made him worse so ive orded millet porridge which is meant to be easy on their tummies and i think ill try pear to start.

Have you found weaning helped?
He came down with a bad cold so weve stopped but plan on starting again in a couple weeks when he better so i know what he reacts to etc

What breakfast cereal you use and how many bottles does he still have?
Jadon cant have much water either so ill remember that :)

Weaning has really helped us IMO. Rio seems a lot more content since being on food. We give him baby fruity porridges or his favourite is banana and oat cereal, and peach and apricot breakfast. Not sure what 'breakfast' stands for. I think it's just oats etc. rio still has 4 x 8oz bottles a day at the minute he doesn't seem interested on dropping any but does take less of his mid afternoon feed now he is having bigger food portions. I gave found he 'struggles' less with bottles the further through the day we go after solids xx

That sounds good maybe the food is keeping acid down :) going to start agin soon so fingers xd x

Steer clear of all boxed/powdered foods. Most contain powdered milk xx

Thanks noo

Ive decided to wait 3 more weeks till hes 6 months now. Hoping its going to help so i can take the meds down a bit x

I did the same and sweet potatoes gave us trouble too (he has bad reflux as well); so I am going to wait a bit longer. He was up five times the night before, in pain, so I am just going to wing it. Not too long now.

Few more weeks to go!
Im thinking of doing a bit of baby led weaning too
