Hi ladies,

Need some help regarding tax credits. Basically my 39 weeks paid maternity ended on 11th June and I am pregnant again and start my next lot of maternity on 13th August. I called HMRC earlier to renew my tax credits and they have told me that I am not entitled to working tax credits for my second maternity period, is this right?? I never knew this otherwise I would've gone back to work for abit instead of taking it as holiday! I'm really stressing now as its quite abit of money to be down by. Also my smp the second time round will only be £114 a week instead of £135, getting so stressed out over it all now and not sure what's right or what to do?! Thanks x

I'm in the same situation here. I haven't rang them up yet. Why does your SMP drop this time round?

They said my earnings were lower cos of being on smp so apparantly I'm only entitled to the lower rate of smp this time round. X

Ohhhhh ok. Slightly different then I went back to work for a few of months so mine should be the same as before.

If you took paid holiday from work then for that period shouldnt you be classed as working? x
