Heparin injections

Is anyone injecting? I started yesterday and struggling with it I would appreciate some tips to make it more comfortable/easier ( if possible).

I've been on Lovenox since 4 weeks. I have DH give them to me. There are some places that sting a bit and some I hardly feel. We don't pinch or anything. Usually the lovehandles are the best. We alternate sides, but I also have 3 insulin shots a day now.

I've been on them for 4 months ..you can ice the spot for a few minutes before and it will help numb it. Just find a good spot you can pinch some skin where there aren't any visible veins and stick it in. Helps to inject slowly if it starts to burn. Good luck

Unfortunately they do hurt I have been on them since 7 weeks I get my hubby to do I. And he does it in my tummy

Thanks all. I'm finding it much more manageable - I tend to do it first thing in the morning, half asleep so I don't have too much time to think about it lol I am finding that I'm bruising a lot no matter how careful I am.

I started mine yesterday, I have a bit of a phobia with needless so I left oh at HOme when I went to hospital for them to show me so that I could overcome my fear, well I ended up getting the nurse to do it

So yesterday I had to do it myself, thankfully I have a bit if podge that I can grab so I did that then gently put the needle in, didn't hurt going in and stung a tiny bit when I injected.

No bruises though, just a little red mark where the needle goes in! Quite chuffed with myself because the bruises can be awful looking

I found consciously relaxing the area made it way more comfortable. If I tensed it would guarantee a bruise. Also, I avoided the thighs as much as possible and just stuck to the tummy
I'm going to be back on them post birth, so will have to start gearing up for it again... !

I'm sticking to the stomach for as long as possible. I can imagine I probably do tense up each time I inject, so maybe I need to make more of a conscious effort to relax.

Well done Hope36 on the first injection! I think the first is definitely the worst.
