So my Dr says if I get pregnant again he wants to do heparin shots. Can anyone share their experiences with it? I want to be feel fairly prepared and informed. Thanks!

Do you know why you are taking them? Your diagnosis will determine how long you are on them.

I have a blood clotting disorder, so I took them daily from what would have been ovulation (I did IVF) until 28 weeks. I will go back on them for 6 weeks post partum. Most women who get them don't appear to actually have a clotting diagnosis, their doctors just put them on heparin "in case" and I think they stay on for much shorter, like end of first trimester.

They are subcutaneous shots, so very short/thin needles that inject into your fat. You will give them to yourself in your abdomen. They really don't hurt much but bruise pretty terribly so you'll be black and blue and purple in no time. That's really the only annoying part of it.

I've done a lot of testing and all have come back negative. I have 5 healthy children but I've had 7 losses. So pretty much unexplained issues. I'm just not quite sure how I feel about the heparin with no test to indicate that I need it and that I have had 5 healthy full term babies.

Check out the parl thread. Lots of ladies are on it and many more had their rainbow☺ sorry for your losses!
