Hello All

I just wondered if anyone else has genital herpes

i heard if you do you should have a c section to help from spreading them to the child

you only need a c-section if you are having an outbreak of visable sores at the time of labour/delivery, but you can take the anti viral medication in the weeks leading up to your due date to ensure you dont have an outbreak at this time

hope that helps x

I apparently have, but think they have misdiagnosed me, as they never did bloods and my flare ups always coincide with shaving. I am going to see what happens nearer the time and see if I flare up then and discuss it.

But I also only know you only need a c-section when you have a flare up and lesions.

Its super common something like 80% of the population have it. Like chele says you only need a c section if you have a big flare up around delivery. Try not to worry :) xxx

My BFF has these. She delivered her son naturally. But she had an out break with her daughter and had to have a c-section. I don't know if she took meds for it while she was pregnant, I never asked her.

it only matters if you have an active attack at the time of birth, they will have to giv you a c section then, otherwise its fine they will just ask you to be vigilant around that time and report and signs of an impending attack if you go into labour xx

If you have a recurrent attack of herpes at the time of delivery, then they will give you a c-section to prevent transmission to baby. Usually though, they will start you on antiviral medication (aciclovir) at 36 weeks to reduce viral shedding and therefore allow you to have a natural vaginal delivery.

Shaving seems to bring on attacks for me too hun, that and to much sex

Thanks for all the help guys, There is a chance that I will need a c section any way so we will have to see what happens
