Some of you might have seen me around. My name is Kristin. I am 20 years old and I live in NY, USA.

I guess it's time to introduce myself here. I have an appt with my midwife for a transvaginal ultrasound to check out my possible endo. I'm terrified of finally hearing the official confirmation. I mean, I know I have it...but I don't think I'm ready to hear it from someone else yet. But maybe it would help me come to terms with it... *sigh*

Sorry, I meant to come in and say "hi" but I ended out blabbering. I can't wait to get to know those of you that I don't already know. Hi!

Hi Kristin

When is your appt?

Fx that it goes okay. I know it's never good to hear any diagnosis but hopefully it means you and your OH can move forward and get one step closer to being a mom :hugs:

Welcome Kristin! :hi: I am also from NY. :)

Hey hun

Welcome, im hoping ur dead wrong about the endo. I know way too much about endo as its changed my life. But a big but, if it is endo im here to support you. And remember endo does not mean infertility!!!!

By the way, endo can not be diagnosed by a scan, even if its internal. Unless u have a chocolate cyst (endometrioma). The only way to diagnose it is to have a laporscopy. Im sure she will mention this to you.

Good luck

Hi ladies and welcome Kristin..
Can i ask what endo is?? Sorry but i have read few things on bnb re endo but unsure what it is and how it affects TTC?? x

Hi Beuty

Endo = endometriosis. There are many theories on how it happens but basically a normals women period is in womb and it flushes out (you have a period) when ur not pregnant. Well with endo ladies it also occurs outside of the womb. Such as around the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bowels and many more places. The problem is this period doesnt have a route to flush out from the body. It gets stuck inside and causes inflamation, scarring and cysts and PAIN. It causes a bowel to stick to pouch of douglas. Ur tubes stick to womb. So it can cause many problems. There is no cure, but to have surgery, which is not a cure, it just grows back every time u have a period.

How it effects fertility, u can have endless surgeries to ur ovaries which remove good egg tissue, it can block tubes, it can causes miscarriages. Basically it effects every part of reproduction. But, big but many ladies there case is very mild and they fall pregnant with no problems at all. I wish i was in that pot.

Many ladies have the endo controlled by hormone injections, the coil, taking pill back to back. But catch 22 how are you meant to fall pregnant.

Hope this helps.

Thanks huni just hear a few ladies writing about it and didnt have a clue.. thanks much appreciated ..x

Hi and welcome. I do not have endo, but I know many who do. Some have had babies (and lots of them!) without a hitch, and I know one lady who had a hysterectomy and had no babies. I guess you never know until you try, but, I hope that it all works out for you and don't lose hope! You are young, so you have that on your side.

Dilek--yeah, I know. But they want to start with this and go from there. *sigh*

Nice to meet you all!

My appt is on Tuesday at 2:00. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. Ugh. It seems like I hurt more often now-a-days... I'm worried...
